pH OF SALTWATER AQUARIUMS: The average pH is generally accepted as being 8.1 to 8.2. The pH and specific gravity of ocean water varies from place to place. The majority of marine fish do well in a range from 8.0 to 8.4.

HOW TO USE: Rinse the test vial several times in water to be tested. Half fill the vial with water to be tested. Add two drops of indicator solution to vial then cap and swirl or tap vial to mix solution. DO NOT HOLD FINGER OVER THE OPEN END OF VIAL as body acid will affect the pH of the test solution. Compare the colour in test vial to closest colour on the colour chart on the reverse side of the card. The test vial should be viewed against a white background in a well lit area. Rinse the test vial with clean tap water after use.

FREQUENCY OF TESTING: The pH should be tested weekly. Fish excretions, excess food, biological filtration etc. can cause changes in the pH.
