Coptrol is a new generation algicide researched by Rural Chemical Industries (Aust.) Pty Ltd. It is a water-soluble chelated copper compound in which the copper is held so tightly it cannot be "stolen" by contact with other substances. It uses special organic chelating agents resulting in a uniquely effective algicidal action.

Coptrol kills algae and nothing else. Coptrol will clear up existing algae, including toxic blue green algae. It prevents future algal growth keeping water clear and bright. It has none of the disadvantages of copper sulphate (bluestone).

Coptrol offers a new approach to the control of algal bloom (free floating or filamentous) in animal drinking troughs, aquaculture, farm dams/ponds, flood irrigation bays, fountains, gardens, golf courses, hydroponics, irrigation channels, lakes, mining, microspray and drip irrigation, nurseries, ornamental fish ponds, potable water supplies, poultry shedding, power stations, reservoirs, rice crops, sewage treatment, turf farms, waste water, water cooling towers, waterways and irrigation canals and other aquatic environments.

Coptrol algicide is precisely formulated by the for safe effective use in rural and other industries and for human and livestock drinking water supplies. It works in all kinds of water, hard or soft, salt or fresh, turbid or clear. It will clear up existing algae and prevent future growth, keeping water clear and bright.

Coptrol is environmentally safe. Coptrol overcomes the environmental problems posed by copper sulphate products. Chelated copper used in Coptrol, as a "natural" compound, is low in toxicity to fish; however, it is still highly effective at controlling algae.

APPLICATION RATES:
Because Coptrol is a non-corrosive viscous liquid, it is really easy to measure, mix and apply. Once diluted it can be applied from horticulture sprayers or even a knapsack spray. For smaller storages it can be applied from the bank and it can even be dripped directly in high volume treatments such as flood irrigation. Before treating with Coptrol, calculate the volume of the body of water. Do this by measuring the surface area and multiplying it by the average depth down to 1 metre (you can ignore depths below 1 metre).

The best application method is by spraying using a 1:10 or 1:20 Coptrol/water dilution. For the best result, apply on a sunlit, wind-free day when algae first appear.
Where the water is heavily infested with algae, it is advisable - where practicable - to remove clumps of algae with a rake or net before applying Coptrol. In really heavy infestations it may be necessary to apply a second treatment after 10 to 15 days.
For tanks and troughs apply at 2-5 mL Coptrol per 1000 litres of water.

Coptrol can be used wherever algae pose a problem or cause a nuisance.

COPTROL WILL NOT CONTROL AQUATIC WEED. Common weeds often mistaken for algae are Duckweed, Azolla and Salvinia.
