Looking for ways to keep your dog warm during the winter months? Read on for a few suggestions from our Customer Care Team.
Keep them indoors
This is the surest way to keep your pet warm. Dogs, while they enjoy outings, are often happier indoors where they can be closer to their family.
Doggy Jackets
Check out our range of dog rugs, coats and jackets. There are some great designs to keep them warm.
Bedding
Their bed should be at least 3 inches off the cold floor to avoid drafts. Low platforms made of a light wood or aluminium frame with canvas stretched over it will suit just fine. No matter where your dog sleeps, provide him with plenty of warm blankets or large towels. He might not stay covered, but he’ll be able to create a nest with the materials you provide.
Provide more food
Dogs use up more calories in the winter trying to stay warm. Feed them a little more in the winter months, especially if they spend a lot of time outside.
Special Note for Elderly Dogs
Please be mindful of your elderly dogs in the winter months as they will feel the cold more and will need a little more attention. An elderly dog may also enjoy a heat pad such as the Snugglesafe Heat Pad. The Snugglesafe Heat Pad is designed especially for use in animals’ beds. It is a 210mm round disc (the size of a dinner plate), that fits into any microwave oven and then snuggly into any pet’s bed. It will stay warm for up to 8 hours making it perfect for while your at work or out for the day.
