Worming Tablets for Dogs

What is the best worming tablet for dogs?

The best worming tablet for your dog depends on a variety of factors including your dog’s weight and age. For puppies, worming products that cover all the major worms of dogs including roundworm, hookworm and whipworms like the Drontal Puppy Worming Suspension and the Milpro Broad Spectrum Wormer Small Dogs & Puppies are ideal.

For dogs over 6 months, you will need to choose your wormer based on weight. Most brands stock a variety of worming tablets that range from 2kg to 30kg.

The final choice you will have to make is whether you want to buy an all wormer tablet that covers all types of worm, like the Value Plus Canine All Wormer Tablets or tablets like Nexgard Spectra which protects your dog from fleas, ticks, heartworms and intestinal worms, but do not protect your dog from tapeworms. Talk to our customer service team if you need help choosing which wormer is right for your dog.

How often do you have to worm a dog?

As a general rule of thumb, you should worm your puppy every two weeks from two to twelve weeks of age, then once a month to six months of age. Adult dogs should be wormed every three months. Different product formulations or advice from your vet might require a slightly different protocol.

How long does it take for worming tablets to work in dogs?

Many worming tablets begin to work immediately after ingesting.
