Directions for Use

Each weight mark on the syringe plunger will deliver sufficient paste to treat 100kg
liveweight.
EQUIMEC Paste is given orally at the recommended dose level of 200µg ivermectin/kg
liveweight. The contents of this syringe will treat one horse at 600kg liveweight. Each
weight marking on the syringe plunger will deliver 1.07g of paste which is sufficient to treat
100kg liveweight. Unlock the knurled ring by making ¼ turn and slide the knurled ring up
the plunger shaft so that the side nearest the barrel is at the appropriate weight marking.
Turn the knurled ring 1/4 turn to lock in place. Remove the plastic cap from the tip of the
nozzle. Make sure the horse's mouth does not contain feed. Insert the syringe into the side
of the horse's mouth in the gap between the front and back teeth. Advance the plunger as
far as it will go, depositing the medication on the rear of the tongue. Immediately raise the
horse's head for a few seconds after dosing to ensure the full dose has been swallowed.

About this item

EQUIMEC Paste is a powerful, broad-spectrum oral wormer designed specifically for horses. Containing 18.7 g/kg ivermectin, it provides reliable treatment and control of a wide range of internal parasites and bots — including those resistant to other wormers. With a single, easy-to-administer dose, EQUIMEC helps keep your horse healthy, comfortable, and performing at their best.

What it Treats

EQUIMEC Paste is effective against:

  • Large strongyles – including Strongylus vulgaris (adults and arterial larval stages), S. edentatus, S. equinus, Triodontophorus spp., Craterostomum acuticaudatum
  • Small strongyles – including benzimidazole-resistant strains
  • PinwormsOxyuris equi (adult and immature)
  • Roundworms (Ascarids)Parascaris equorum
  • HairwormsTrichostrongylus axei
  • Stomach wormsHabronema muscae
  • Neck threadwormsOnchocerca spp. (microfilariae)
  • LungwormsDictyocaulus arnfieldi
  • Intestinal threadwormsStrongyloides westeri
  • BotsGasterophilus spp. (oral and gastric stages)
  • Summer sores and cutaneous onchocerciasis caused by larval stages of Habronema, Draschia, and Onchocerca

Who It's For

EQUIMEC Paste is suitable for:

  • Horses of all ages
  • Foals from 6–8 weeks of age
  • Mares at any stage of pregnancy
  • Breeding stallions (does not affect fertility)

Note: This product is for horses only. Do not use in other animals.

Directions for Use:

  • Administer orally using the included syringe.
  • Each syringe treats one 600kg horse.
  • Use the plunger markings to dose accurately based on bodyweight (1.07g per 100kg).
  • Ensure the horse’s mouth is free of feed before dosing.
  • Raise the horse’s head briefly after administration to ensure the full dose is swallowed.

How Often to Use

Since reinfection is common, routine treatment is essential. EQUIMEC is ideal for use in a strategic parasite control program — particularly in horses at risk of colic or verminous arteritis from S. vulgaris. Foals, mares, and yearlings should receive special attention.

Consult your veterinarian to tailor a worming schedule that suits your horse's individual needs and environment.

Safety and Side Effects

  • Wide safety margin at recommended dose levels
  • Occasional mild swelling or itching may occur, usually linked to heavy infestations of Onchocerca microfilariae
  • These signs generally resolve within a few days — consult your vet if they persist
  • Meat withholding period: Do not use less than 21 days before slaughter

Environmental and Storage Information

  • Toxic to aquatic life – avoid contaminating waterways
  • Dispose of used syringes responsibly in household garbage
  • Store below 25°C and protect from light

EQUIMEC Paste offers proven, broad-spectrum protection in a single, low-volume dose — making it an ideal choice for routine worming and parasite control in horses of all ages.

Unconventional use, but highly effective

I was very happy with this product, but caveat that I did not use it to medicate a horse.
I bought it as a low-cost option to medicate native birds with mites. After 2 months, the birds which were bald with bleeding sores, are now fully feathered and healthy.

RACHEL A.

Is this gel or paste version?

vet-n-pet DIRECT

Hi Rachel

Thank you for your Question.
The Equimec Broad Spectrum Parasite Control Paste for Horses 6.42g is a Paste formulation.
The Equest Plus Tape Long Acting Horse Wormer and Boticide Gel 11.8g is a Gel if you are wanting a Gel formulation.

I hope that helps.

Cheers

Is this paste pure Ivermectin or is there praziquantel in it? I can’t find the list of ingredients.

vet-n-pet DIRECT

Hi Sandra

Thank you for your Question.
The composition of Equimec is: Ivermectin 18.7 g/kg.
If you are wanting a wormer that contains praziquantel you will need to use Equimec Plus Tape.
I hope that helps
Cheers

C
Customer

How many MLS in a tube of 6.42g?

vet-n-pet DIRECT

Hi Claire

Thank you for your Question.
The Equimec is measured in grams as it is a paste.
I do not have any information on the actual millage.
It is a small tube so I think it will probably be around 6ml - 7ml.
I hope that helps.
Cheers

Lisa
