Wombaroo Granivore Rearing Mix is a balanced diet designed for rearing or supplementing grain-eating (granivorous) birds such as parrots, cockatoos, finches, doves, pigeons and quail.

Granivorous birds obtain most of their energy from the complex carbohydrates in seeds and grains. In the wild, they also consume fresh green seeds, fruits, plant material and some insects. In captivity, many birds are fed mainly dry seed diets, which can be low in essential nutrients. Wombaroo Granivore Rearing Mix provides the additional protein, fats, vitamins and minerals needed for optimum health, particularly during breeding and chick-rearing seasons.

• Hand Rearing: Mix the powder with warm water to form a slurry suitable for spoon or crop feeding. Follow the directions on the pack.

• Fruit & Veg Mix: Combine 1 scoop (7.5g) of powder with 20g of diced fruit or vegetables. Suitable for parrots, pigeons and frugivores.

• Egg Food: Mix 2 scoops (15g) of powder with 1 mashed hard-boiled egg. Ideal for canaries, finches and breeding birds.

Directions:
For conversion from seed if gradual, mix 50:50 seed to crumbles. Allow all seed to be eaten before adding more mix. Birds should be consuming the crumbles within 3-4 days. Once crumbles are being eaten, eliminate seed.

Conversion may be sudden, simply remove all seed and replace with crumbles. Ensure familiar feed dishes and feeding locations are retained. Birds may appear fluffed for 2-3 days while their systems adjust but should return to normal within a week.

For soft feeding add hot water to a small amount of crumbles, stir and supply in place of normal soft foods. As birds take to this food, decrease the water added and begin reducing the amount of seed supplied. Birds will convert shortly.

Water must be available at all times as birds on Finch Crumbles consume more water than seed eating birds. (Allow for extra water consumption when using in-water medications).

Vetafarm Nectar Pellets are a complete and low-sugar diet for loris and lorikeets.

Nectar pellets have been formulated to provide complete nutritional balance for growth, breeding, brain function and optimum feather development when fed as 80% of your birds diet. The remaining 20% of the diet should consist of a combination of fresh fruits and vegetables (15%) and selected treats such as nectar mixes (5%).

Directions:
Loris and lorikeets eat between 10-15% of their bodyweight in dry food per day. A 120g bodyweight lorikeet requires a minimum of 10g of nectar pellets per day.

What is a Probiotic and how does it work?
  The digestive system of all animals and birds is home to literally billions of bacteria and yeasts referred to as Microflora.
Microflora are essential to the health of any animal; aiding the digestion, breaking down cellulose and other indigestible substances; helping the synthesis and absorption of vitamins and minerals; stimulating the immune system and preventing the proliferation of pathogens. (Pathogens reduce nutrient absorption, animal performance and cause disease).

Stress, in all forms is one of the major causes of disruption to the normal balance of microflora in the gut, allowing proliferation of pathogens. Loss of appetite, picky eating, scouring, poor condition and changes in temperament are some of the less consequences.
