Wombaroo Granivore Rearing Mix is a balanced diet designed for rearing or supplementing grain-eating (granivorous) birds such as parrots, cockatoos, finches, doves, pigeons and quail.
Granivorous birds obtain most of their energy from the complex carbohydrates in seeds and grains. In the wild, they also consume fresh green seeds, fruits, plant material and some insects. In captivity, many birds are fed mainly dry seed diets, which can be low in essential nutrients. Wombaroo Granivore Rearing Mix provides the additional protein, fats, vitamins and minerals needed for optimum health, particularly during breeding and chick-rearing seasons.
Key Benefits:
-
Ideal for Hand-Rearing: Elevated levels of protein, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, vitamins and minerals for improved chick health and growth.
-
Supplement for Breeding Birds: Supports the increased nutritional demands of breeding adults.
-
Nutritional Support: Can be used as an assist-feeding formula for young, sick or malnourished birds.
Directions for Use:
Feed as a complete diet for hand-rearing chicks, or as a supplement for adult birds.
-
Hand Rearing: Mix the powder with warm water to form a slurry suitable for spoon or crop feeding. Follow the directions on the pack.
-
Fruit & Veg Mix: Combine 1 scoop (7.5g) of powder with 20g of diced fruit or vegetables. Suitable for parrots, pigeons and frugivores.
-
Egg Food: Mix 2 scoops (15g) of powder with 1 mashed hard-boiled egg. Ideal for canaries, finches and breeding birds.
Ingredients:
Processed cereals and vegetables, soy protein, whey protein, maltodextrin, glucose, lysine, methionine, mannan oligosaccharides, beta-glucans, vegetable oils, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, taurine, carotenoids, vitamins and minerals.

ABOUT FEEDING INSECTS:
Insectivorous species kept in captivity usually lack the diversity and quality of a natural diet in the wild. Feeder insects are often maintained on nutrient-poor substrates (eg bran), which can lead to dietary deficiencies. Insects have no skeletal structure and are therefore a poor source of calcium.
IMPROVING INSECT NUTRITION:
By maintaining the live feeder insects on Insect Booster, the nutritional value of the captive diet is significantly enhanced. This provides a means of supplying essential amino acids, essential fatty acids (omega 3 & 6), vitamins, minerals and colour-enhancing carotenoids. Supplying nutritionally improved feeder insects maintained on Insect Booster is more effective than simply "gut-loading" insects raised on inadequate diets.
Test Results after using Insect Booster showed that calcium levels and the calcium to phosphorus ratio were significantly improved. This is a more effective method of supplying calcium than dusting insects with calcium powder. The levels of other minerals, vitamins and colour-enhancing carotenoids were also significantly improved.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
For best results, supply insect booster to the feeder insects for at least 14 days prior to feeding animals. Moisture should always be available to insects and can be supplied as a piece of wet sponge, fruit or vegetable.
Adult Insects (crickets & woodies): Supply Insect Booster as a dry powder in a shallow bowl or plate. Insect Booster is a complete diet and does not require other foods to be added.
Juvenile Insects (mealworms & fly pupae): Make a 50:50 mixture of Insect Booster with bran and supply as the substrate in which the pupae live.
Ingredients: Pollard, whey & soy proteins, methionine, vegetable oils, omega-3 & omega-6 fatty acids, vitamins, minerals & carotenoids.
SIZES: Available in 300g & 5kg.

Recommended for: Insectivorous and Omnivorous Birds.
Insectivorous birds require a diet high in protein and fat. Insecta-Pro provides a convenient, balanced diet for all species (except Mynas and Toucans).
Omnivorous birds (Blackbirds, Thrush, Magpies etc.) benefit from Insecta-Pro and mixed 50:50 and fed as a moist blend.
Features:
- Stimulates breeding pairs of Insectivores/Omnivorous and balances the diet of young.
- Extrusion cooked for safety and digestibility.
- Used and recommended by Taronga Zoo.
- Designed to provide a supplemental feed for all insectivorous birds, including those requiring "live food".
- Complete live food replacement.
For Insectivorous birds, mix at a rate 75% Insecta-pro 25% of Finch Crumbles.
For Omnivores mix at a rate of 25% Insecta-pro 75% of Finch Crumbles.
Directions for use:
Can be fed dry, mixed with water to create a crumble, mixed with other foods and fruits or dampened and rolled into balls.
Insecta-Pro can be mixed with other "soft feedstuffs" such as fruits, pupae, eggs etc.
This damp mix is supplied to the birds to provide a wide based, nutritious feed that will stimulate breeding pairs and provide a fully balanced diet for the young.

- Total small bird nutrition in a highly digestible extruded crumble.
- Contains the balanced nutrition necessary for finches, canaries and budgies.
- Eliminates seed and hull waste leaving aviaries and cages cleaner.
- Promotes better feathering and colouration.
- High energy/protein ration and balanced amino acid profiles for better growth.
- Improves fertility and chick rearing.Birds develop better body condition.
Directions:
For conversion from seed if gradual, mix 50:50 seed to crumbles. Allow all seed to be eaten before adding more mix. Birds should be consuming the crumbles within 3-4 days. Once crumbles are being eaten, eliminate seed.
Conversion may be sudden, simply remove all seed and replace with crumbles. Ensure familiar feed dishes and feeding locations are retained. Birds may appear fluffed for 2-3 days while their systems adjust but should return to normal within a week.
For soft feeding add hot water to a small amount of crumbles, stir and supply in place of normal soft foods. As birds take to this food, decrease the water added and begin reducing the amount of seed supplied. Birds will convert shortly.
Water must be available at all times as birds on Finch Crumbles consume more water than seed eating birds. (Allow for extra water consumption when using in-water medications).
Pack sizes: 450g, 2kg, 10kg

Nutricore provides exceptional nutritional balance, supporting optimal growth, feather development and immune function for baby birds.
Ideal formula from hatching to weaning.
Contains 13 vitamins and mineral, 9 strains of good bacteria and 7 digestive enzymes.
Veterinary formulated for optimal growth and development.
DIRECTIONS:
Please note: The below directions are a guide only. If babies' crops are emptying faster than normal, add slightly more Nutricore formula to your mix. If babies' crops are emptying slowly, slightly more water can be added for a thinner consistency.
IMPORTANT NOTES
Always ensure food is fed to babies at a temperature of between 38-41°C.
Never reuse a premixed batch of formula from a previous feed. Mix Nutricore fresh every feed.
Always ensure feeding utensils are thoroughly cleaned and sterilised between feeds.
Always weigh your babies at the beginning of each day before their first feed to ensure they are gaining weight.
Always mix well to achieve a uniform consistency, cool to feeding temperature (38-41°C) and feed fresh to babies.
NEONATE FEEDING RECOMMENDATION (HATCHING TO DAY 5)
Feed a combination of Spark Liquid and Synbiotic solution only, for the first 24 hours or until your baby passes the meconium (first dropping). After the first dropping, mix 1 heaped teaspoon of Nutricore with 5 teaspoons of hot, pre-boiled water to make a very thin solution, then feed this solution for the next 24 hours. This solution can be gradually thickened over the following 3 days until the Standard feeding dilution is achieved as outlined below.
STANDARD FEEDING RECOMMENDATION (BABIES OVER 5 DAYS)
Mix 1 heaped teaspoon of Nutricore Hand Rearing Formula with 3 teaspoons of hot, pre-boiled water. This consistency will be used from day 5 through to when the bird weans onto an adult diet.
TRANSITION FEEDING
A Nutricore mix of very thin consistency should be fed to babies for at least the first 24 hours when transitioning from another brand of formula or when pulling babies older than 5 days from the nest for hand raising. This is to ensure babies remain hydrated and allows a period for adjustment to the new diet. The recommendation for this transition period is 1 heaped teaspoon of Nutricore with 5 teaspoons of hot, pre-boiled water.

Directions:
South American Mix should be used as a total diet but may also be used as a balanced addition to seed and fruit diets.
To convert birds to South American Mix, take 50:50 blend of normal seed and pellet - add a small amount of hot water (just enough to make the pellets sticky), form the seed/pellet mix into a "rissole" and place in the bird's food bowl. Allow the bird to pick through the rissole until it gets a taste for the pellet. After several days

Directions:
NEOCARE is a fine powder that is mixed with hot water to give the desired mix. For newly hatched babies make a very dilute mix and give a few drops until the baby passes its first dropping. Then feed as required and slowly increase the thickness of the mix until by day 5 they are getting a mix that will fall through the prongs of a fork.
For babies pulled from the nest (5 – 14 days of age), make a normal thickness mix (falls through the fork) and feed as you would any formula.
For Cockatoos, pigeons and doves use NEOCARE as the sole source of food until weaning.
For birds that fail to thrive, keep the brooder temperature up and give NEOCARE as their sole diet until they are growing normally.
If you have chicks in the nest you wish to supplementary feed then simply make up a mix of NEOCARE and crop feed as required – it will boost those slow babies so they can compete with nest mates for food.
