Horse Fly Repellants & Sprays

Alto Lab Bug Shield is a convenient and effective bug prevention spray.

Ingredients: permethrin and piperonyl butoxide

Permetrol is an insecticidal spray and rinse concentrate for dogs and horses.

Horses:Use for the control of pyrethroid sensitive flies - buffalo fly (Haematobia irritans exigua), stable fly (Stomoxys calcitrans) and biting insects (Culicoides sp.). Also an aid in the treatments of Queensland Itch.

Dogs: Use for the control of fleas (Ctenocephalides felis, Ct canis) and ticks (adult Rhipicephalus sp.). Also an aid in the treatment of allergic dermatitis(summer eczema).

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

This product should not be used on cats and animals under 12 weeks of age.

When diluted in methylated spirits, the product should not be used on broken skin.

Dogs: Dilute 10mL per 400mL of water or methylated spirits if rapid drying is required.

Horses: 10mL per 400mL water. Spray as required for fly nuisance. For Queensland Itch [Culicoides bite hypersensitivity] spray twice weekly until Buffalo Fly symptoms abate, then as required.

ZONE CONTROL: To obtain maximum flea control, treat the animal's environment by cleaning the bedding and resting places and then regularly spraying the entire area with the diluted product. Treat all pets in the house with a suitable product. Vacuum/clean the carpets and surroundings regularly. Continue treatment all year round. If flea problems persist, seek veterinary advice.

WITHHOLDING PERIOD (HORSES): NOT TO BE USED on horses intended for human consumption.

Troy Repel-X Insecticidal and Repellent Spray offers proven fly repellency up to 12 hours and effective repellence of other biting insects up to 4 hours in horses, dogs, cattle, and pigs.

Active Ingredients: 20 g/L diethyltoluamide, 5 g/L citronella oil, 2 g/L pyrethrins. Also contains:  8 g/L piperonyl butoxide (synergist)

Dosage and Administration:
Spray the animal lightly for a few seconds with a sweeping motion from head to rear. Apply twice daily when infestations are severe. Avoid getting spray into animals’ eyes.

For animal sheds, spray the inner walls thoroughly and any other place where flies and insects settle. Re-spray as necessary. If irritation occurs discontinue use – consult a veterinarian.

Withholding Period:   Meat and milk: Zero (0) days.
Trade Advice – Export Slaughter Interval (ESI): An ESI has not been established for this product. Note – observing the meat withholding period may not be sufficient to mitigate potential risks to export trade. Nature’s Botanical Rosemary and Cedarwood Lotion is an ALL NATURAL insect repellent (registered for use on people) that repels flies, sandflies, midges and mosquitoes for up to 4 hours. Many people have also found success using it on their dogs and horses although there are no specific label claims for this purpose.

​It has become a favourite insect repellent for bushies, campers, caravanners, fishermen, equestrians and those who enjoy an outdoor lifestyle.

​These products do not contain chemicals such as DEET or Picaradin.

Nature’s Botanical Lotion is a white lotion that differs to the Crème only in that it is considerably thinner than the Crème, making it easy to apply. Like the Crème, the Lotion has the pleasant fragrance of Rosemary and Cedarwood. It becomes transparent when rubbed into the skin and leaves no greasy residue behind.

Safe Active Ingredients:
The ingredients in the Nature’s Botanical roll-on and spray are identical but there is no olive oil base. These oils are considered safe for application to skin by regulators such as the EPA.
Both products contain a food grade preservative E211.

​Instructions for Use:
Apply to exposed areas of skin. Reapply as necessary.

If you have never used the product before, apply a small amount first to ensure no adverse skin reaction.

Do not ingest.
Avoid direct contact with eyes.
Do not use if pregnant.

How to apply SWAT as a “wipe-on”.

EASY “Once-a-Week-Protection”.

• For the “FIRST’’ application with a mitt, cloth or towel, apply twice the dosage.
• This “charges’’ the applicator and allows for the absorption of Swat into the applicator material.
• Application is best used while wearing a disposable rubber glove.
• The best method is to apply Swat as a whole body-wipe.
• Apply half the dose(i.e. 15mL for a large horse) along one side.
• Wipe along the neck and withers to the tail head.
• Then apply to the front and hind leg.
• Apply the remaining product over the rest of the body (sides, shoulder and belly) including the face (being careful not to get the product in their eyes).
• Apply the second half dosage on the other side in a similar manner.
• Store your applicator in a zip-seal bag for future use.

Pay special attention to where the flies congregate.

• For Buffalo flies – wipe sides, shoulders and belly.
• For Sandflies and Qld Itch – wipe neck, withers and around tail head.
• For Stable Flies – wipe legs, shoulders and belly.

Active constituents: 4.0% Permethrin 25:75(cis:trans) A highly effective insecticide and tickicide with insect repellent activity.

Permoxin is a highly effective tickicide and insecticide. In laboratory trials, a single application of Permoxin prevents tick attachment for over two weeks and resulted in greater than 98% flea control for 20 days.

When applied daily to flea allergic dogs, Permoxin repels fleas and gives relief to the pruritic dog. In fact, the high safety margin means that Permoxin can be applied as often as needed, to maintain the repellent action.

Permoxin utilises advanced technology which allows it to bind to clean hair and skin for long acting effectiveness. Peak activity is maintained by regular weekly top up rinses to produce saturation of the hair coat.

Permoxin resists inactivation by light. This ensures a longer duration of action than the natural pyrethrins which decompose rapidly on exposure to air and light

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Dilute to 1:40 (as directed by label) in water, or methylated spirits if a rapid drying spray is required. Spray or rinse as directed.

Queensland Itch or Allergic Dermatitis in horses is an allergic skin condition very common in Northern New South Wales, Queensland coastal regions and southern Western Australia.

Caused mainly by Sand-fly bites, it occurs in summer months as an irritating inflamation of the skin, first appearing as small pimple type swellings.

The horse then bites, rubs or scratches, causing loss of hair and creating raw areas of skin. This further attracts insects.

DAVID KURITCH has been specially formulated to help overcome this problem and acts in two ways.

Firstly, it soothes the irritated areas thus stopping the horse biting and rubbing, which in turn allows the normal healing process to take place.

Secondly, due to the incorporation of "Moskitox", a powerful repellant, sand-flies and mites are prevented from causing further irritation and this relieves allergic reaction. Years of field experience have proven DAVID KURITCH to be a most effective product for both preventing and healing Queensland Itch or Allergic Dermatitis in horses.

DAVID KURITCH should be applied to the affected areas twice daily for Queensland Itch or Allergic Dermatitis.

As a wound protectant, DAVID KURITCH may be applied directly to surface wounds, minor cuts or abrasions.

Flies and insects are repelled thus avoiding infections.

Aids in prevention of Queensland Itch.

Directions for Use:

Before applying brush coat to remove excess dirt or dust. Apply to the hair coat using the spray nozzle or a cloth dampened with Vetsense Flygon GOLD Insecticidal and Repellent Spray. Do not wet skin or apply to point of dripping or exceed 60 mL per application. Only light application is required.
It is best to apply by rubbing against the hair growth. Give special attention to the legs, shoulders, neck, and facial area where flies are most often seen.
For best results, reapply every other day. Also, reapply each time the horse is washed or exposed to heavy rain. Apply on a small area first as some animals may have sensitive skin. Avoid getting the spray in the animal’s eyes, nose, and mouth.
For animal housing, spray the inner walls thoroughly and any other place where flies and insects settle. Re-spray as necessary. Do not apply directly to food or food preparation areas.

SAFETY DIRECTIONS: May irritate eyes and skin. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Wash hands after use.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION: Very toxic to aquatic life. DO NOT contaminate wetlands or watercourses with this product or used containers.
