WSD Fly Strike Powder is a treatment for blowfly strike of sheep and a wound treatment for livestock.
Type of Preparation:
WSD Fly Strike Powder is a ready-to use powder for topical application to struck areas or as a wound dressing containing diazinon 15g/kg, piperonyl butoxide 0.8g/kg, and pyrethrins 1g/kg.
Indications:
Sheep and other Livestock: To treat or prevent blowfly strike, including after dehorning, mulesing or other wounds.
Milking Sheep: Should not be used in sheep producing milk for human consumption.
Dosage:
Always refer to the label.
Shear wool or clip hair from the affected parts. Apply powder to the wound, introducing it into any cavities beneath the skin. Dust the wool and skin bordering the strike, particularly areas between skin wrinkles.
After marking, mulesing and dehorning, apply liberally to the affected area.
Advice On Use:
- It is important to coat the area thoroughly.
- Following fly strike, re-treatment of the affected area may be required.
- All preparations containing diazinon should be treated with CAUTION.
RESTRAINTS:
Do not use on cows, ewes or does which are producing or may in the future produce milk or milk products for human consumption.
Meat withholding period (sheep and goats): Do not use less than fourteen (14) days before slaughter for human consumption.
Meat withholding period (cattle): Do not use less than three (3) days before slaughter for human consumption.

WSD Spurt is a treatment for body lice of sheep.
WSD Spurt is a pour-on formulation for topical use containing 25g/L cypermethrin- a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide and a scourable dye.
Indications:
Sheep and Lambs: Control of biting lice (Bovicola ovis) in sheep off-shears
Milking Sheep: Do NOT use in sheep producing milk for human consumption
Dosage:
Always refer to the label.
Applied at a dose rate of 1mL/5kg body weight.
The correct dose for the weight range of sheep should be applied as a single continuous strip 20-40cm in length down the middle of the back within 24 hours of shearing. It is recommended that treated sheep be held together in the yards for 2 hours after treatments and not be let straight out of the race into the paddock.
Advice On Use:
- WSD SPURT is applied undiluted.
- It must not be stored in any container other than the original including overnight. Do not leave WSD SPURT containers uncovered or in direct sunlight.
- It is critical that sheep be cleanly shorn without residual clumps or tufts of wool and WSD SPURT must be applied less than 24 hours after shearing to ensure effectiveness.
- Correct application is critical and it should not be applied as a single spot or to sheep which are wet. Light to moderate rainfall soon after application should not reduce efficacy.
- A clean muster and single shearing with immediate correct treatment of every animal is ideal for achieving effective control of lice.
- Lambs at foot cannot be treated, and therefore it is recommended that ewes due to lamb within 6 weeks or ewes with lambs at foot should not be treated with WSD SPURT.
- If a split shearing is inevitable it is critical that treated and untreated sheep be kept separate.
- The repeated use of any synthetic pyrethroid is likely to result in the emergence of resistance in sheep lice. It is therefore recommended to regularly alternate treatment with a dip such as WSD FLOCKMASTER MKII.
- Resistance to synthetic pyrethroids is present in some populations of sheep lice, and treatment failures may be due to resistant lice being present.

WSD Closantel is a narrow spectrum treatment for internal parasites of sheep and lambs with sustained action against re-infestation by Haemonchus contortus (barbers pole worm), and activity against Fasciola hepatica (liver fluke).
Type of Preparation: WSD Closantel is a clear solution for oral use as a drench containing 37.5g/L closantel – a member of the salicylanilide and substituted phenol group of compounds.
Indications:
Sheep and Lambs: Haemonchus contortus (barber's pole worm), Fasciola hepatica (liver fluke) from 6 weeks, and Oestrus ovis (nasal bot). Closantel provides sustained protection against the re-infestation by both mature and immature stages of barber's pole worm in sheep for 4 weeks after dosing. Closantel controls both mature and immature stages of liver fluke as well as all stages of nasal bots.
Milking Sheep: Do NOT use in sheep producing milk for human consumption
Dosage:
Always refer to the label. Separate into different weight classes if there is a large variation in age and weight.
Dose at the rate of 1mL per 5kg body weight.
Advice On Use:
• WSD Closantel is particularly useful if administered in spring before the rise in Haemonchus parasites in the sheep or survival of larvae on pastures.
• Administration in spring is also useful in removing residual liver fluke infestations, and managing the contamination and early pickup of the liver fluke in affected areas. This provides a useful alternative to WSD triclabendazole products.
• When treating an outbreak of haemonchosis (barbers pole infestation), consideration should be given to using an alternative drench from the WSD range, particularly WSD LEVAMISOLE or WSD COMBINATION.
• WSD Closantel is particularly effective when combined with management strategies to control haemonchosis including rotation and spelling of paddocks.
• Closantel is NOT effective against the other major gastrointestinal worm parasites.
• Resistance to Closantel is widespread among barbers pole worm (Haemonchus) in some sheep-raising districts.
• The repeated use of any drench is likely to result in the emergence of resistance and therefore, regular testing for efficacy is recommended if Closantel is used.
• The emergence of resistance on an individual farm is likely to result in the failure of Closantel to provide extended protection against re-infestation by Haemonchus.

WSD Fenbendazole is a suspension for oral use as a drench containing 25g/L fenbendazole- a benzimidazole (BZ). Preparations containing BZ compounds are commonly known as a ‘white drench’.
PURPOSE:
Cattle, Sheep, Lambs and Goats:
Mature and immature stages of worm parasites susceptible to BZ compounds: Barber's pole worm (Haemonchus spp), stomach hair worm (Trichostrongylus axei), black scour worms (Trichostrongylus spp), small brown stomach worm (Ostertagia spp), small intestinal worm (Cooperia spp), thin necked intestinal worm (Nematodirus spp) hookworm (Bunostomum trigonocephalum), nodule worm (Oesophagostomum columbianum), large bowel worm (Oesophagostomum venulosum), large mouthed bowel worm (Chabertia ovina), and large lung worm (Dictyocaulus spp). Fenbendazole also has some efficacy against tapeworms (Moniezia spp) and whipworm (Trichuris).
Milking Sheep: Do NOT use in sheep producing milk for human consumption
Milking Goats: Suitable for use in goats producing milk for human consumption (see withholding period).
Dairy Cattle: Suitable for cattle producing milk for human consumption (see withholding period information)
DOSAGE:
Always refer to the label. BZ’s generally have low toxicity but to avoid residue problems, it is good practice to separate into different weight classes if there is a large variation in age and weight.
Sheep and Goats: Dose at the rate of 1ml per 4kg body weight. It is preferable if sheep, lambs or goats are fasted for approximately 18 hours before administering BZ drenches. This may not be feasible for dairy goats.
Cattle: Dose at the rate of 15ml per 50kg body weight
ADVICE ON USE:
WSD Fenbendazole is a reliable broad-spectrum drench for cattle.
• WSD Fenbendazole is useful in treating the effects of immature worm infestations (mainly scouring) in adult sheep and as a clean-up drench for sheep or lambs.
• Adult worms of resistant strains of gastrointestinal worm parasites may not be removed by treatment and this may require the later use of an effective strategic treatment from the WSD range of drenches.
• Resistance to the BZ group of parasiticides is widespread among gastrointestinal parasites on Australian sheep and goat farms, and there may also be resistance among cattle parasites.
• The repeated use of any drench is likely to result in the emergence of resistance and therefore, regular testing for efficacy is recommended if BZ’s are used.
WITHHOLDING PERIODS:
MEAT (Sheep, Cattle, Goats): DO NOT USE less than fourteen (14) days before slaughter for human consumption.
MILK (Sheep): DO NOT USE in female sheep which are producing or may in the future produce milk or milk products for human consumption.
MILK (Goats): Milk collected from does within twenty-four (24) hours following treatment MUST NOT BE USED for human consumption or processing. This milk should not be fed to kids.
MILK (Cattle): NIL.
TRADE ADVICE EXPORT SLAUGHTER INTERVAL (ESI):
DO NOT USE less than 14 days before slaughter for export. The ESI was current at the time of label approval. Before using this product, confirm the current ESI from the manufacturer on Ph: (08) 9321 2888 or the APVMA website (www.apvma.gov.au/residues/ESI.shtml).

- Reduces scour duration and severity.
- Contains a balanced mix of glucose, glycine, citrate and electrolytes.
- Fights acidosis.
- Easy to mix and administer.
- Registered for use in calves, lambs and ewes, dogs, cats, pigs and foals.
Indications:
- Diarrhoea
- Dehydration
- Post-transport stress
- Pregnancy Toxaemia in ewes
Withholding Periods:
Meat Nil.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Vytrate Liquid Concentrate: solution intended for oral administration after dilution with water to 12.5 times its original volume.
Following are directions for the preparation of commonly required dose volumes. Measure the required volume of Vy'trate Liquid Concentrate into the mixing vessel and make up to volume required with clean, fresh drinking water. Replace cap firmly after use.
Mix 40 mL Vy'Trate Liquid Concentrate with water to make up to 500 mL diluted solution; mix 80 mL to make up to 1 L; mix 160 mL to make up to 2 L. 1 L pack makes a total of 12.5 L; 5 L pack makes 62.5 L.
Calves:
Bought in calves. Feed 2 L of diluted solution, made up as above, as the first feed on arrival. For the next scheduled feed, use 1 L diluted solution at the same time as, but not mixed with, milk or milk replacer. Thereafter, feed normal diet.
Scouring calves. Dose rate: 1 to 1.5 L diluted solution/10 kg bodyweight daily, divided into two or more daily doses. If scouring is established or severe, causing serious dehydration, the higher dose should be used initially and fed in three or four divided doses. 2 L of diluted solution given morning and night will be adequate in many cases.
Directions. Immediately signs of scours are seen, withdraw milk or milk replacer and feed the required dose for two days. For a further two days return to milk feeding at half normal rate, with diluted solution given between these feeds. Thereafter feed as normal. Seek veterinary advice if blood is present or scours persist beyond four days. Keep feeding utensils clean and avoid overfeeding. Normal feeding should be resumed after the course of treatment. Replace with fresh solution every 24 hours. Many scouring problems can be avoided by feeding adequate colostrum early in the calf's life.
Pigs:
Suckling piglets. Immediately scour signs appear, fresh diluted solution, made up as above, should be made available, in a clean vessel, to the whole litter. A litter of 1 week old piglets will consume approximately 2 to 3 L/day. The amount consumed will increase with the age of the piglets. Piglets may be dosed individually, by giving 20 to 30 mL diluted solution three or four times a day, taking care to avoid choking. Take care to ensure that piglets are not left without diluted solution, drinking water or sow's milk. Check the supply of solution every twelve hours and replenish if necessary.
Weaned pigs:
Scouring weaned pigs should have fresh diluted solution available in a suitable clean vessel. Restrict solid feed intake for one to two days, but continue to supply fresh drinking water. As a general guide, weaners will consume 1 to 2 L/weaner/day.
Duration of treatment (all pigs). Diluted solution should be made available for four days, but if the scour has not cleared completely, treatment may be continued for up to eight days in total. If there is no sign of improvement, consult a veterinary surgeon.
Periods of stress:
For the two to three days following any period of stress (i.e. weaning, transport etc.), Vy'Trate will help to increase fluid and electrolyte consumption and absorption, so minimising any possible setback. As diluted solution is extremely palatable and excessive drinking may occur, diluted solution at half the strength recommended above may be used, for this indication only. Replace with fresh solution every 24 hours.
Sheep:
Scouring lambs. Give 150 to 200 mL fresh diluted solution two to four times daily as required. The solution should be adjusted to body heat and given via a feeding bottle and teat. The lamb should also suck the ewe. Unused diluted solution may be kept in a clean container below 25°C but should be replaced with fresh solution every 24 hours.
Pregnancy toxaemia in ewes:
Administer 160 mL undiluted solution using suitable drenching equipment. Repeat at four to six hour intervals as necessary. Prompt treatment as soon as signs appear improves the likelihood of a complete recovery.
SIZES: 1L; 5L
