IMAX GOLD (ivermectin and praziquantel) Liquid is formulated for administration by oral drench or stomach tube (nasogastric intubation). A low-volume dose provides effective control of major internal parasites, including tapeworms, bots and the arterial stages of Strongylus vulgaris.
Ivermectin is part of the avermectin family of broad-spectrum antiparasitic agents derived from Streptomyces avermitilis. Praziquantel is used for the treatment of equine tapeworms including Anoplocephala perfoliata, Anoplocephala magna and Paranoplocephala mammillana (adult, immature, heads and segments).
IMAX GOLD Liquid also assists in the control of skin lesions caused by Habronema and Draschia spp. cutaneous larvae (summer sores) and Onchocerca spp. microfilariae (cutaneous onchocerciasis).
The recommended dose is 1 mL IMAX GOLD Liquid per 50 kg bodyweight. For example, a 500 kg horse requires a 10 mL dose.
IMAX GOLD is safe for use in horses of all ages, including foals, breeding stallions and mares at any stage of pregnancy, provided normal handling precautions are followed.
