About this item

Direa Tablets can be used in the management of diarrhoea brought about by a variety of causes, including:

Dietary change - for example a recently re-homed puppy, infectious agents; Imbalance of gastro intestinal flora
Food poisoning;

Direa Tablets - How do they Work?

Direa tablets contain a complexing or bulking agent called crospovidone that absorbs toxins and water from the gut to form a protective gel, thus slowing and reducing the severity of the diarrhoea.

Crospovidone is not absorbed through the gut wall and is chemically and biologically inert.

Dose Rates
A twice-daily administration of the tablets for 2-4 days is recommended.
Dogs - 1 tablet per 10-20 kg, cats¼ tablet per 2.5-5kg bodyweight.

Veterinary advice should be sought for pets that exhibit signs of illness other than diarrhoea, including blood stained faeces, or if diarrhoea persists after 3 days treatment with this product.

Great product

I brought these as a back up for my 2 dogs that got gastro over the weekend . I had nothing at home for them and as im regional country vets are not open . Will keep these in my dpg supplies in case it happens again til we can get to a vet .

Great Product

I'm a professional dog breeder and sometimes the puppies get soft stools. This product firms them up well and quickly. If they are watery they'll be pudding-like by the next day. If already pudding-like, they'll be rather firm in 1-2 days. They are large tablets but easily break into quarters by hand so really not a problem. We keep several bottles on hand for emergencies!!

Very rapid working, see results within 3 hours!! Gentle on both of my large dog's tummies. Best comment REDUCES FLATULANCE !!! No more doggy smells in front of visitors, or in my bedroom at night! A large tablet, but once administered, works quickly. Good value re price. I always keep a bottle on hand for peace of mind!

My ageing cat had uncontrollable diahorrea and as I am a pensioner I bought this in the hope that it would avoid the dreaded Vet fees. I didn't have much hope as I thought she may have cancer. Three days of medication and three days later she seems to be very much improved with weight gain and firm stools.

Direa Tablets

The tablets are large and very soft and powdery. I needed to break one up to be able to my cat the correct dose and it just crumbled away. Also, if it takes more than one attempt to dose the cat, you have to start all over with another piece of tablet as the first will be all soft & mushy. Might be okay for dogs where you can hide it in their food. No good for fussy cats though.
