Ziwi Peak's Cat moist Rabbit & Lamb Cuisine is a raw equivalent, premium moist cat food made from real meat.

Rabbit is a natural prey for cats. Fortunately (at least for us) they're very abundant in the wild South Island of New Zealand. So, our rabbit meat and organs aren't from farmed animals but from free-range wild-caught rabbits in the South Island mountain and lake country. It's processed in export-quality facilities under the control of the New Zealand Government Ministry of Agriculture.

As rabbit's naturally very lean, we've carefully blended it with lamb to give your pet the right balance of protein and fat as a daily diet.

Recently Ziwi Peak have received questions regarding small pieces of bone (up to 0.19 inch or 5mm) being found in our Moist Rabbit and Lamb canned products.

The bone pieces are due to Ziwi using minced, wild New Zealand rabbit. While we consider bone to be a perfectly natural attribute of our wild prey diet (as it reflects what the animal would hunt and eat in the wild) we do understand you may have some concerns and decide that you do not wish to feed your cat or dog product with this minced bone in it.

The photo in the product images illustrates the maximum size of the ground bone that may be in some cans. This size is within our current specification and we would consider this acceptable for our Moist Rabbit and Lamb canned range.

Renal diets are recommended as soon as creatinine goes out of reference range (from CKD late stage 2), before the disease further progresses, and before inappetence develops. In case of food aversion, the cat can be switched to another renal option without transition. After commencing a Renal diet, in addition to periodic measurement of renal biomarkers, blood mineral level monitoring is also recommended. In cases of diet induced hypercalcaemia, the cat should be switched to Early Renal diet. Other mineral disturbances (eg. hypokalaemia) may require additional treatment. In most cases, Renal diets may be continued for the cat’s lifetime.
