What it’s for:

FELIWAY Classic Spray helps cats feel calm and comfortable by mimicking natural feline facial pheromones.

Use it:

• During car journeys or vet visits.

• To reduce scratching or urine marking at home.

For Travel / Vet Visits:

1. Spray directly inside the cat carrier or basket before placing your cat inside.

2. Apply 8 sprays for each use.

3. Wait 15 minutes before letting your cat into the carrier or the sprayed area.

4. Re-spray every 4–5 hours for long journeys.

5. Do not spray while your cat is inside the carrier.

For Home Use:

1. Identify key spots where your cat may feel stressed or mark (doors, window sills, cat flaps, or furniture corners).

2. Spray these areas to help prevent marking.

3. If your cat has already marked, clean the area thoroughly before spraying.

4. Do not spray scratching posts or areas where you want your cat to scratch.

5. Re-spray daily to maintain the calming effect.

Important Notes:

• Never spray the carrier while the cat is inside.

• Always wait 15 minutes after spraying before allowing your cat near the area.

• Clean marked areas thoroughly before applying.

The placing of facial pheromones is a behaviour which is well known to all cat owners. When a cat feels safe in its environment, it rubs its head from the side of the chin to the base of the ear, against the furniture, the corners of walls or the bottom of curtains. By doing this, the animal is depositing facial pheromones. These marks convey a message of well-being and a feeling of security.

When there is a change in the cat's environment (such as visits to the vets, return from hospitalisation, moving house, new arrivals, rearrangement of furniture) or if the cat is scared, a state of disquiet or stress may develop. This state can be expressed by changes in behaviour, such as urine marking, vertical scratching, loss of appetite or refusal to play and to interact. In these situations, the Feliway Spray can be used to restore the natural balance.

What pheromone is in Feliway and is this safe for humans?
The pheromone in Feliway is a synthetic copy of the familiarisation facial pheromone that cats use to mark objects in their environment. The actual concentration of pheromone in the air at any one time is tiny and as pheromones are species-specific, the feline pheromone in Feliway® will have no effect on humans.
 
Is Feliway safe to use if you are pregnant?
The Feliway Diffuser is safe to use if you are pregnant.

Can I use Feliway if I suffer from Asthma?
Feliway contains a paraffin-type mineral oil of a kind common to other air freshener devices. We are not aware of specific problems for asthma sufferers from such devices, however if you consider yourself to be particularly sensitive, or have had problems when using similar devices in the past, then we advise you to use the device only after consulting with your GP.

How long does the Feliway Diffuser last ? The diffuser should be checked monthly and replaced every six months to ensure optimum effect.
