Vetafarm have formulated a specific diet for lorikeets, replicating their pollen, fruit and nectar diets of the wild.

Vetafarm Nectar Pellets are a complete and low-sugar diet for loris and lorikeets.

Nectar pellets have been formulated to provide complete nutritional balance for growth, breeding, brain function and optimum feather development when fed as 80% of your birds diet. The remaining 20% of the diet should consist of a combination of fresh fruits and vegetables (15%) and selected treats such as nectar mixes (5%).

Directions:
Loris and lorikeets eat between 10-15% of their bodyweight in dry food per day. A 120g bodyweight lorikeet requires a minimum of 10g of nectar pellets per day.

Directions:

Make freely available as your birds primary diet. Forest Fusion Lorikeet may be fed dry, direct out of the packet or as a wet mix by adding a small amount of water.

Wet Mix: A wet mix can be achieved by adding warm water to the powder and mixing thoroughly with a fork. You can mix to any consistency you desire but Vetafarm recommends a mix of 1 heaped teaspoon of Forest Fusion Lorikeet with 10 teaspoons of hot water. Mix well with a fork and change every 24hrs.

Forest Fusion Lorikeet is designed as a complete diet when fed at 80% of the total diet.

Converting Lorikeets: We use the natural deliciousness of dates, bee pollen and blueberry to achieve an outstanding taste! However, as most commercial lorikeet diets contain large quantities of refined sugar, changing some birds from one of these diets may take a number of days.

DIRECTIONS:

Please note: The below directions are a guide only. If babies' crops are emptying faster than normal, add slightly more Nutricore formula to your mix. If babies' crops are emptying slowly, slightly more water can be added for a thinner consistency.

IMPORTANT NOTES
Always ensure food is fed to babies at a temperature of between 38-41°C.
Never reuse a premixed batch of formula from a previous feed. Mix Nutricore fresh every feed.
Always ensure feeding utensils are thoroughly cleaned and sterilised between feeds.
Always weigh your babies at the beginning of each day before their first feed to ensure they are gaining weight. 
Always mix well to achieve a uniform consistency, cool to feeding temperature (38-41°C) and feed fresh to babies.

NEONATE FEEDING RECOMMENDATION (HATCHING TO DAY 5) 
Feed a combination of Spark Liquid and Synbiotic solution only, for the first 24 hours or until your baby passes the meconium (first dropping). After the first dropping, mix 1 heaped teaspoon of Nutricore with 5 teaspoons of hot, pre-boiled water to make a very thin solution, then feed this solution for the next 24 hours. This solution can be gradually thickened over the following 3 days until the Standard feeding dilution is achieved as outlined below.

STANDARD FEEDING RECOMMENDATION (BABIES OVER 5 DAYS) 
Mix 1 heaped teaspoon of Nutricore Hand Rearing Formula with 3 teaspoons of hot, pre-boiled water. This consistency will be used from day 5 through to when the bird weans onto an adult diet.

TRANSITION FEEDING  
A Nutricore mix of very thin consistency should be fed to babies for at least the first 24 hours when transitioning from another brand of formula or when pulling babies older than 5 days from the nest for hand raising. This is to ensure babies remain hydrated and allows a period for adjustment to the new diet. The recommendation for this transition period is 1 heaped teaspoon of Nutricore with 5 teaspoons of hot, pre-boiled water. 

A healthy and balanced diet is key to a successful breeding season. Breeding is a very nutrionally demanding time for birds, their bodies require increased nutrition to help stimulate breeding, lay fertile eggs and rear healthy chicks.

Some examples of key nutrients for breeding birds and their young are increased protein to stimulate breeding activity, calcium and Vitamin D3 for egg formation, egg laying and prevention of egg binding.

Directions for Use:
Parrot B-Calm is designed to be fed at a rate of 80% of your parrots total diet, with the remaining 20% to be primarily fresh fruit and vegetables to provide variety and enrichment.
Fresh water must always be available.

Parrots require a minimum of 10% of their bodyweight in pellets per day, for example:

  Symptoms of avian anxiety and stress may include changes in vocalisation, feather destructive behaviour, aggression, pacing, head swinging, shaking, decreased appetite and hiding.

Wombaroo Granivore Rearing Mix is a balanced diet designed for rearing or supplementing grain-eating (granivorous) birds such as parrots, cockatoos, finches, doves, pigeons and quail.

Vetafarm Breeding Aid is an oil-based breeding supplement, fortified with stabilised vitamins for the addition to seed diets.

Healthy membranes in a fertilised egg are essential if the embryo is to develop into a healthy chick. For membrane development breeding birds need access to essential fatty acids.

Breeding Aid contains essential fatty acids for membrane development, egg laying, chick growth and immunity, and Vitamin A for cell development, Vitamin D3 for calcium absorption, bone growth and egg formation and Vitamin E, an antioxidant that helps maintain cell membranes.

Breeding Aid is a must for all breeding birds fed on a seed diet and is particularly useful for smaller birds that produce a large numbers of eggs or multiple clutches.
Additional vitamin, mineral and calcium supplements are still advised for birds on seed diets.

Why do we recommend Spark Liquid?

During times of heat stress (e.g. birds have their wings out, are mouth-breathing and are down on the ground) birds are undergoing changes in their body chemistry. Their blood pH is altering, their sodium and potassium levels are out of kilter and their fluid balance is incorrect. While we struggle to control the temperature, we must also help the birds return to normal as soon as possible – this is why we use electrolytes!

When we are talking about electrolytes - it is balance that is key. Not only do all body cells require electrolytes to function correctly, they require certain amounts of each type of electrolyte.

In late 2020 International Animal Health began rebranding Protexin to a new name  "ProN8ure". The actual product remains the same and the only thing that has changed is the name.

Dried Mealworms are a popular food source for poultry, caged birds, wild birds, lizards, turtles and fish.
In the wild, foraging would normally produce a wide- ranging diet and mealworms are a return to this natural habit that can help promote a balanced diet in conjunction with daily feed.
Mealworms are a great source of protein and essential nutrients.
Supplemental feed can be particularly useful for seed-eating birds where diet is important at breeding time.

Passwell Red Factor Canary Seed is a balanced diet for red factor canaries. This mix is a standard canary seed that is infused with Canthaxanthin. This unique infusion process means that canthaxanthin is absorbed into the kernel of the seed and is therefore readily assimilated into the bloodstream of the bird. This is a more effective method of delivering canthaxanthin into the diet than adding it to drinking water, as there can be considerable variation in the daily intake of water by birds.

Red Factor Canary Seed should be fed as the only seed component of the bird's diet prior to and during the feather moult.

Best results are achieved if supplemented as a 50% mix with the usual seed diet all year round to maintain sufficient levels of circulating caratenoids in the blood stream.

If feeding seed as the main diet, birds may become deficient in essential vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and amino acids, particularly when breeding. It is recommended to supplement with Passwell Egg & Biscuit which contains a balance of these essential ingredients. Alternatively, vitamins and minerals may be supplied from Passwell Multi-Vite for Birds, calcium and Vitamin D3 from Liquid Gold and essential fatty acids from The Good Oil for Birds.
