Bio-Hoof Care & Repair is a Biotin supplement for horses with dust reduction technology
• Formulated to provide the essential nutrients involved in the growth and maintenance of healthy hooves
• Biotin supplement for horses with dust reduction technology
• A 20g dose contains 100% of the NRC maintenance requirement of biotin for a 500 kg horse
• Formulated with Calcium and Zinc
Active constituents: Each 20 g dose contains: BIOTIN 15 mg ZINC 270 mg CALCIUM 6 g Also contains SULPHUR
The growth of a strong resilient hoof wall depends on an adequate supply of the vitamin biotin and the minerals calcium, sulfur and zinc. An inadequate intake of the structural minerals, trace-minerals and biotin, results in loss of hoof strength and easily broken away, chipped or cracked hooves in all horses. Biotin plays an important role in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Biotin is a sulfur-containing vitamin that is needed in the formation of the bones, hooves and the skin.

In late 2020 International Animal Health began rebranding Protexin to a new name "ProN8ure".
BENEFITS of ProN8ure:
- Establishment of beneficial gut microflora
- Suppression of E. Coli Salmonella & Aeromonas spp
- Treatment and control of scouring and diarrhoea
- Improved digestibility of feed
- Improved growth and feed conversion
- Reduced digestive upsets
- Enhanced animal health
- Re-establishment of gut microflora following antibiotics, wormers or vaccination
- Reducing stress (stress disrupts normal intestinal balance)
- Safe, non-toxic and residue-free.
ProN8ure is the most advanced multi-strain Probiotic in the world today.
Unlike many other Probiotics that consist primarily of a single strain of bacteria, ProN8ure consists of seven different naturally occurring bacteria. The effectiveness and synergy of these strains has been proven in years of trials and production application.
The uniqueness of ProN8ure is not just confined to its multi-strain formulation. Research and Development has produced a special "protection" to ensure the highest possible numbers of bacteria survive the journey through the hostile conditions of the crop or stomach, into the gut where they rapidly begin to work for the benefit of the animal.
ProN8ure's introduction to Australia makes it the first and to date, the only nationally registered Probiotic approved for administration to animals and birds.
What is a Probiotic and how does it work?
The digestive system of all animals and birds is home to literally billions of bacteria and yeasts referred to as Microflora.
Microflora are essential to the health of any animal; aiding the digestion, breaking down cellulose and other indigestible substances; helping the synthesis and absorption of vitamins and minerals; stimulating the immune system and preventing the proliferation of pathogens. (Pathogens reduce nutrient absorption, animal performance and cause disease).
Stress, in all forms is one of the major causes of disruption to the normal balance of microflora in the gut, allowing proliferation of pathogens. Loss of appetite, picky eating, scouring, poor condition and changes in temperament are some of the less consequences. Stress is easily induced with some common causes being: changes in diet, heavy work or training, temperature extremes, breeding, transportation, worming, vaccinations and changes to environment.
Use of ProN8ure in these circumstances protects horses from negative intestinal changes while improving digestive efficiency and general health.
Antibiotics are particularly harmful to gut microflora, leaving animals susceptible to re-infection. ProN8ure should always be administered following any course of antibiotics. The digestive system plays a vital role in the health, vigour and performance of horses. Its correct functioning is dependent on the level and balance of bacteria and yeasts called microflora. Microflora have the major role in breaking down indigestible nutrients, in the synthesis and absorption of vitamins and minerals, in stimulating the immune system and in preventing the proliferation of pathogens in the gut.
All horses benefit from ProN8ure's ability to stabilise intestinal microflora, maximise gut health and resist the effects of stress.

This product may be used weekly as a general tonic.
Directions:
Administer the entire contents onto the back of the horses tongue.
Give one tube 24 hours before racing or work.
To darken the coat, give one tube every second day (total 4 tubes).

Nearly 70% of minerals found in a horses' body are made up of Calcium, Magnesium and Phosphorous. These minerals are critical for bone, teeth, joint and cartilage health. For the active working horse, between 25% and 50% of absorbed calcium is lost during exercise or competition. Unfortunately, many soils across Australia are Calcium deficient making mineral rich pasture difficult to cultivate.
If your horse is restricted to a small paddock, locked in a stable, or kept in a paddock with poor pasture, how are you maintaining your horses' mineral requirements?
The NRG Team has spent considerable time developing a quality and cost-effective mineral supplement that ensures your horse achieves the daily mineral requirement and helps avoid costly leg and skeletal problems. NRG's Calcium has added Magnesium and Selenium for high absorption and the correct balance of Phosphorous to combat feed imbalance.
Excess Phosphorus in the horses' diet leads to less calcium being absorbed. Most grains and especially brans are high in Phosphorus and low in Calcium which leads to a mineral imbalance and poor Calcium absorption.
The NRG Calcium mix has the ideal balance of Calcium and Phosphorous at a 2:1 ratio with added Magnesium for better Calcium absorption and Selenium for muscle development. Many horses' diets tend to be Calcium deficient and extra Calcium is required to balance the Ca/Ph ratio. Like any mineral, overfeeding can also cause problems, so it is important to achieve the correct mineral ratio.

Normally animals get L-CARNITINE from their diet, or they manufacture it from other amino acids, but a heavily exercising athletic animal will usually not be able to replace the extensive loss of L-CARNITINE which occurs. Carnitine deficiency results in an inability to utilise fatty acids as an energy source, and causes skeletal muscle dysfunction and weakness, heart enlargement, heart failure and rhythm disturbances and liver dysfunction. L-CARNITINE also assists in the oxidation of pyruvate and branched chain amino acids in the energy cycle, and prevents the buildup of fatty complexes within cells which can damage muscle cell membranes.
Supplementing with L-CARNITINE has a number of beneficial effects during exercise including enhanced energy supply, increased utilisation of fatty acids, decreased buildup of lactic acid and increased maximum work output. The level of L-CARNITINE in muscles plays a major role in determining the exercise capacity of the muscles. L-CARNITINE is essential for normal heart function. L-CARNITINE is recognised as one of the more important ergogenic aids for equine and canine performance, as well as for human athletes. L-CARNITINE supplementation enhances both sprint and endurance performance. Fat is the major energy source for endurance events. Supplementation increases maximal work output and V02 max in sprint exercise.
There is evidence that L-CARNITINE levels in equine plasma increase with training. High fat diets are recommended for exercising horses as they have a very high energy content and have been shown to improve performance when their utilisation is enhanced by L-CARNITINE supplementation.
Adequate L-CARNITINE levels are critically involved in the survival of newborn foals. Supplementation of brood mares twice weekly during the last two weeks of pregnancy with 10mL L-CARNITINE will benefit the foal. Animals under stress are reported to respond positively to L-CARNITINE supplements.
Adult Horse: 10mL given three times weekly, or as directed by a veterinarian. Veterinarians have recommended using doses of 20mL to 25mL twice weekly, with the second dose given 4-6 hours before hard or fast work.

Same trusted and proven Mitavite in a new look – exclusive to Mitavite and Hygain!
Bonafide contains Quinaquanone, a patented, water soluble and bioavailable form of Vitamin K1 and K2.
Vitamin K1 & K2 have a critical effect on the function of osteocalcin, the bone protein that binds the mineral and protein in the bone together. Without sufficient Vitamin K the binding process is incomplete and low density or defective bone and cartilage are produced.
Vitamin K1 & K2 are naturally available in fresh, growing, green pasture but they are highly unstable, being degraded by UV light, wilting or 'wintering off'.
Horses that do not have constant access to high quality pasture are likely to be deficient in Vitamin K, leading to a reduction in bone density and strength.
Horses removed from Vitamin K rich pasture and brought into a box/yard regime have demonstrated a reduction in bone density within 7-10 days.

Commonly Asked Questions
Q: How do I know if my horse needs supplements?
A: Observing your horse's behaviour, condition, and performance can provide initial clues. However, consulting with a veterinarian or an equine nutritionist is the best way to determine specific nutritional needs and the appropriate supplements.
Q: Can supplements replace a balanced diet?
A: No, supplements are designed to complement a well-balanced diet, not replace it. They should be used to ensure your horse receives all the necessary nutrients, especially those that might be lacking in their regular feed.
Q: Are there any side effects to using horse supplements?
A: When used according to the recommended dosages, horse supplements are generally safe. However, over-supplementation or using multiple products with overlapping ingredients can lead to adverse effects. Always read labels carefully and consult with a professional if in doubt.
Q: How do I choose the right supplement?
A: Consider your horse's age, activity level, existing health conditions, and specific nutritional needs. Our category is organized to help you easily find supplements targeting general health and vitality, joint health, digestive care, hoof care, and more, making it simpler to select the right product.
Q: When will I see results after starting my horse on a supplement?
A: The timeframe can vary depending on the supplement and the specific needs of your horse. Some improvements, such as those in coat quality or energy levels, can be noticed within a few weeks, while others, like joint health improvements, may take longer.
