Certain fungi found on fresh pasture grasses, conserved roughage (hay, chaff, straw) and in grains can produce secondary compounds called mycotoxins. Several types of mycotoxins exist which may interact, especially under favourable environmental conditions such as in warm and humid climates. Mycotoxins may contaminate feeds or grains and are hard to detect due to their odourless, tasteless and invisible presence.

The horse’s digestive system is sensitive to the effects of mycotoxins, as the gastric juices in the stomach cannot effectively deactivate the mycotoxins and these therefore enter the sensitive small intestine and hindgut. Once mycotoxins reach the hindgut they may affect the intestinal wall or enter the horse’s blood stream, which can result in respiratory, gastrointestinal, neurological and reproductive issues.

Safeguard EQ may be of benefit to horses exhibiting one or more of the following symptoms: Stringhalt, aggressive or unruly behaviour, hypersensitivity / ‘girthiness’, poor coat quality, diarrhoea, poor conditioning and rye grass staggers.

Hygain Sweat-Up is formulated for horses with non-sweating, the puffs & dry-coat conditions. Sweat-Up helps induce thirst.

Anhidrosis, or non-sweating, is a condition affecting thousands of horses world-wide. Symptoms are (to varying extents) a combination of a high respiration rate, poor or absent sweating, dull coat, scaly skin & crumbly, brittle hooves.

Sweat-Up is a scientifically based formulation of electrolytes, minerals and Omega 3 fatty acids. The unique formula provides sufficient electrolytes to help induce thirst, and a strong zinc supplement which is immune to absorption interference by calcium and other divalent (2+) metals.

Ingredients:
Sodium, Potassium, Phosphate, Chloride, Magnesium, Omega 3 Fatty Acids, Organic Zinc and Iodine.

DOSAGE: 30g or one level scoop morning and night.

Short-term sufferers should respond in 4-7 days, chronic cases may take up to 3 weeks. Susceptible horses should remain on Sweat-Up while in a hot climate.

Bonafide contains Quinaquanone, a patented, water soluble and bioavailable form of Vitamin K1 and K2.
Vitamin K1 & K2 have a critical effect on the function of osteocalcin, the bone protein that binds the mineral and protein in the bone together. Without sufficient Vitamin K the binding process is incomplete and low density or defective bone and cartilage are produced.

Vitamin K1 & K2 are naturally available in fresh, growing, green pasture but they are highly unstable, being degraded by UV light, wilting or 'wintering off'.
 Horses that do not have constant access to high quality pasture are likely to be deficient in Vitamin K, leading to a reduction in bone density and strength.

Horses removed from Vitamin K rich pasture and brought into a box/yard regime have demonstrated a reduction in bone density within 7-10 days.

Why Omega 3 Fatty Acids Matter

Omega 3 fatty acids cannot be produced by the horse and must be supplied through the diet. Modern equine diets can often contain higher levels of Omega 6 fatty acids than Omega 3, particularly where horses have limited access to fresh pasture.

Performa 3 helps provide a more balanced fatty acid profile by supplying Omega 3-rich oils together with naturally occurring EPA and DHA from fish oil.

Feeding Guide

Commence feeding at 25–30 mL per day and gradually increase over 10–14 days to the recommended feeding rate.

Hygain Regain is rapid electrolyte replacer formulated for horses to replace body salts lost during exercise, hot climatic conditions and as an aid in the treatment of dehydration, hypochloraemia and alkalosis.

Ingredients:
Contains 215g/kg sodium, 468.5g/kg chloride, 152g/kg potassium and 17.25g/kg magnesium.

Sodium and Chloride: Common salt (NaCl), which is composed of two ions, sodium (Na+) and chloride (Cl-). They are the major electrolytes of the body.

Potassium: One of potassium’s major roles is to maintain and ensure correct cellular osmotic pressure which affects the sensitivity of nerves and muscles to impulses. Horses suffering from a lack of potassium are prone to fatigue, muscle weakness, exercise intolerance, tying-up and decreased water intake.

Magnesium: Magnesium plays a critical role as a co-factor inver 300 enzymatic reactions within the body. Magnesium is also requires for muscle function and is essential for DNA to send messages to he cells.

Calcium: Deficiencies of calcium in its ionic form may lead to muscle weakness and condition s such as tying up and ‘thumps’.
