The year was 1976 and Joe Markham was a loving but puzzled pet parent to Fritz, a German Shepherd whose favorite hobby was chewing on rocks. One day, while working on a VW Bus, Joe began tossing auto parts to Fritz to lure him away from the rocks. Among those parts was a rubber suspension component and when it bounced over to Fritz, he was immediately drawn to it, picked it up and dropped it in Joe’s lap. Inspired by the erratic bounce and toughness of that rubber part, Joe created the KONG. And nearly 50 years later, KONG Classic is still a favorite toy for dogs.

Based in Golden, CO, all KONG Rubber and KONG Consumables are proudly made in the USA.
