LifeWise BIOTIC Skin with fish, rice, oats & vegetables is a nutritional aid for dogs suffering chronic skin, coat and gut sensitivities.

Skin and gut sensitivities are overwhelmingly the result of dysbiosis of the gut microbiome. This reduction in microbial diversity triggers an unnatural immune system response which manifests as a sensitivity such as seasonal, grass and food allergies. Treatment of the condition is assisted with an easily digested food containing  appropriate ingredients in strict ratio to one another. This promotes diversity and robustness within the gut microbiome, thus calming the unnatural immune system response.

This food is best fed as the sole source of nutrition to affected canines, and can be used in conjunction with veterinary care medications such as Cytopoint, Apoquel or corticosteroids. The addition of a quality probiotic supplement such as Purple Boost will assist in the nutrient uptake and greatly assist the nutritional support. If you are in doubt as to the suitability of this food for your dog, please consult your veterinary advisor prior to feeding.

Specifically developed in conjunction with the science of nutrigenomics, this complete and balanced food can be used as a nutritional aid for dogs recovering from dysbiosis induced skin, coat and gut sensitivities. The energy density of the food is 16.5MJ/kg  (394 kcal/100g) and is free of GMO’s dairy, wheat, corn, soy and sugar. Manufactured and tested under ISO 17025 standards.

Ingredients:
Fish, rice, oat groats, sweet lupins, field peas, alfalfa, mixed oils stabilised with vitamin E and rosemary oil, sweet potato, carrot, spinach, parsley, kelp, yeast cell wall extract, prebiotic fibre, vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, D3, E, K, niacin, pantothenate, folic acid, biotin, and natural organic acids, minerals calcium, phosphorus, sodium, copper, zinc, iron, manganese and iodine.  Also contains natural flavours and Yucca schidigera extract.

Good for my Collies digestion

Food came black.

Not sure what happened, bought this many times from other stores and received food that appeared fresh. Bought from here and it came black and looked burnt and smelt weird. This gave my dog stomach issues so now I've got 13kg of food I don't want to feed to him. Wasted my money

Hi Paul, We followed up your concerns about the product colour with the manufacturer and they have provided the following explanation about colour variations in their food:

In regard to the colour difference with the food, this is due to it reverting back closer to the original colour, as we now have a full resumption in the supply of fish. Thanks to Covid and its aftermath, there was a serious shortage of the original Tuna supplies (a mix of Yellow Fin and Albacore) and we had to supplement with an alternative Tuna species (Mackerel) which has a much lighter coloured flesh. Though this is inconsequential and will not affect the efficacy or efficiency of the formulation, as our diets are scientifically designed around the correct ratios of the amino acids, in proportion to the energy density of the food. LifeWise only uses fresh ingredients and will not use any colourings in the formulations.

To alleviate any concerns that owners may have with the natural colour variation, we have retention samples and have subsequently had this batch independently tested again, with the laboratory tests on the food being perfect with the exception the protein level is slightly higher than normal, meaning a higher density product, but still well within the range of normal manufacturing variation, confirming that the food is of the standards that owners expect from LifeWise, for their beloved pets.

With this in mind, please ensure that you recommend they are following the feeding guide with this formulation and that the daily ration for their canine family member, is not over the recommended amount. This may simply happen due to cups being used, rather than weighing the food as the newer biscuit is also smaller and slimmer, meaning that more grams will fit into a cup.

Customers will notice in the next batch coming through, that it is again lighter, as production has increased, we have utilised more Mackerel again in this formulation.

I have Border terriers.... we have to be very careful of gluten as some dogs can have a pre disposition to canine elyptoid cramping syndrome. Its been suggested that gluten free could help.
We also dont feed chicken as several of our dogs have had severe ear problems caused by chicken.
We prefer a fish based product and single protein too. I see your Fish kibble has lamb in it and lamb has caused problems in the past.
We have been feeding cezars choice tuna...however we have recently had problems with it too..
Our dogs seem to eat grass frantically every chance they get....but they seem to need to graze it. I realise their guts must be out of wack. I do feed a prebiotic but something is amiss.
We like to feed them a wet food so a total kibble diet hurts me but I am interested to know what you suggest and if you are au fait with border terriers?
