It all started with the family dog – Sasha. In 1998, the founders of Sasha's Blend were faced with her arthritis diagnosis and the only treatment options available at the time were nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Whilst NSAIDs can be effective in short term alleviation of pain associated with osteoarthritis, they have a range of potential side effects associated with chronic use, which can impact kidney and gastrointestinal function. Given that Sasha was only 11 years old, they were concerned about the long-term use of NSAIDs to manage her arthritis.

With the help of contracted scientific facilities to research joint function, they created the unique, all-natural Sasha’s Blend™ from a blend of New Zealand green-lipped mussel, abalone, and marine cartilage. After significant research and subsequent field trials, Sasha’s Blend™ became the first Australian-developed natural osteoarthritis treatment to achieve veterinary registration with the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) in 2001.
Interpath went on to continue their research and also subsequently developed the 4CYTE range of joint health supplements for dogs, cats and horses.
