DL-Acetyl Methionine Injection acts to detoxify the liver.

LIVER PROTECTANT:

An early study in horses confirmed methionine administered prior to or within 2 or 4 hours after exposure to a liver toxic agent (chloroform) protected the liver from injury.

Methionine by injection should prove useful to protect the liver against certain types of
injuries and aids organ repair.

Several other reports indicate methionine, an essential amino acid, assists in the breakdown of fats in the liver (fatty liver disease – cattle). Also it detoxifies the liver and the body of heavy metals. 

DL Methionine protects tissue from free-radical damage. As a lipotropic agent, it plays a fundamental role in healthy liver function. It has antioxidant activity, protects the liver and lympathatic system and other tissues throughout the body against free-radical damage. 

A recent report indicates methionine exerts an antioxidant effect although the mechanism is yet unidentified. 

The findings of this study demonstrate that methionine reduces free-radical formation in
endothelial cells. This novel, indirect antioxidant action might be relevant for prevention of inflammation and oxidative stress.

Methionine is not synthesised by the body and must be supplemented.

DL METHIONINE INJECTION 50mL:

Supportive treatment of liver disease (protection of the formation of free-radicals in tissues).

Withholding Period:
NIL Racing. It is preferable to suspend administration 48 hours

URDINE TRIPHOSPHATE is a source of muscle energy, related to ATP.

HEPTAMINOL HCL increases blood flow for exercise and endurance capacity. It helps build and maintain muscles. A new study indicates HEPTAMINOL delays the onset of muscle fatigue.

VITAMIN B12 (cyanocobalamin) to stimulate appetite for energy metabolism.

SELENIUM is an essential trace element. For metabolic processes, and energy. Selenium has anti-oxidant properties, protects muscle from damage. It directly and indirectly prevents 'tying-up' and related muscle problems.

MAGNESIUM ASPARTATE increases oxygen delivery to muscle tissue. For muscle strength and endurance, and has a role in muscle contraction.

POTASSIUM ASPARTATE for glucose/glycogen (i.e., energy) metabolism.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

Inject slowly subcutaneously or intramuscularly.

Horses: 4 mL per 100 kg bodyweight.
Dogs: 1 mL per 25 kg bodyweight.

Prevention: One injection each week for 2-3 weeks.
Treatment: One Injection every 3 days for 9-12 days.

MEAT WITHHOLDING PERIOD: DO NOT ADMINISTER less than 28 days before slaughter for human consumption.

Hippiron Iron Injection for Horses is for the treatment of iron deficiency in racing horses.

Indicated for the treatment of iron deficiency anaemia in horses. Anaemias due to parasitism, poor nutrition, haemorrhage. To improve oxygen uptake.

Description: A brownish pyrogen free sterile alkaline solution. Iron (Fe) 20mg/mL as Ferric-Hydroxide-Sucrose compound.

Mode of Action: When injected Hippiron breaks down into carbohydrates and trivalent Iron Hydroxide which is stored in the form of Ferritin (depot iron) in the liver; from there it is transported in the form of transferrin to the site of erythropoiesis (where red blood cells are formed).

Indications:  For treatment of iron deficiency anaemia in horses. Anaemias due to parasitism, poor nutrition, haemorrhage. To improve oxygen uptake.

Dosage:  By intravenous injection, Foals 10mL(200mg) per week. Adults & Yearlings 20mL (400mg) per week. The frequency and length of treatment will depend on the severity of the iron deficiency.

Warning: In extremely rare instances an anaphylactic reaction can occur. Appropriate treatment for anaphylactic shock should be instituted.

L-lysine is an essential amino-acid not synthesized by animals, and must be supplemented to correct deficiencies.

L-lysine supplementation is reported to reduce symptoms of FHV-1 virus in cats and kittens.

An Australian study of respiratory diseases in cats reported 21.2% positive for FHV-1.

Published reports on L-lysine supplementation in cats and kittens:

Oral administration of 500 mg L-lysine twice daily was well-tolerated and resulted in less severe manifestations of conjunctivitis caused by FHV-1 compared with cats that received placebo treatment.

L-lysine at 250 mg twice daily reduced viral shedding. Although there is a lack of controlled studies, it is believed this dose of L-lysine helps reduce chronic and recurrent clinical symptoms of FHV-1.

For symptoms of FHV-1 L-lysine 500 mg, orally 12 hours is recommended.

Lysine paste for cats and kittens is an oral supplement containing 250 mg/ml of L-lysine HCL.

Lysine for cats and kittens:

L-lysine is an essential amino-acid important for the development and maintenance of body functions and the immune system.It is not synthesized by animals and it must be available in dietary constituents or orally supplemented. It is important to supplement cats and kittens with respiratory and FHV-1 symptoms.

Directions for Use:

Each mL contains 250 mg/mL L-lysine in a palatable oral supplement for cats and kittens. The suspension may be applied to the paw, where it can be licked off; directly into the mouth, or alternatively onto food. Administer twice daily or as directed by a veterinarian.

An abscess may be described as a hollow filled by puss which may occur in any part of the body situated under a protective tissue. This is too often the cause of BIG NECK, the well known abscess formation in the region.

Symptoms:
According to the time needed for an abscess to develop one classifies abscesses as acute or chronic. An acute abscess develops very quickly, usually 12 hours to
5 days after the infection has entered. A well defined swelling mostly in the neck or rump region which causes obvious pain when touched are well recognised symptoms of the start of the superficial abscess.

With a deep abscess there is a different history. The horse develops fever (39 degrees C & over). At first there is no swelling noticeable as the point of infection is deep seated under thick layers of tissue. The inflamed tissue surrounding the head of
the infection causes pain which will severely interfere with the movements of the muscles of the region concerned. The inflammatory process progresses towards the surface of the body and now the symptoms are identical with those observed
in superficial abscesses.

Contains: Camphor 35g/kg, methyl salicylate 25g/kg, icthammol 100g/kg.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Rub well into affected area, then cover with a thin layer twice daily.

Richtafort Phosphorous 125 + Vitamin B12 Injection for horses, cattle and dogs is a high potency phosphorus injection which also provides additional vitamin B12.

It gives 500mg of phosphorus at the recommended dose (25mL) and supplies fast, reliable, predictable phosphorus for the athletic horse.

Phosphorus is essential for bone and skeletal development. It promotes carbohydrate metabolism, energises skeletal and cardiac muscle, and supports metabolic function. Vitamin B12 influences red blood cell production and improves carbohydrate and protein utilisation.

Phosphorus is not produced by the body, it must be externally supplied. Horses can get phosphorus in grains, hay and roughage, as phosphorus supplements such as mono sodium phosphate, or as inorganic phosphorus (the most available phosphorus) through Richtafort 125 phosphorus supplement + vitamin B12 injection.

Phosphorus from grains, hay and roughage is variable. The absorption of oral phosphorus is low (30–50%).

The athletic horse needs more phosphorus to replace phosphorus used up at all levels of exercise (slow and fast work, walking, swimming, etc.), to replace phosphorus consumed at racing and for bone, cartilage and joints.

The immediate source of muscular energy includes compounds that require phosphorus for their formation. These include adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and glycogen.

ATP is the immediate fuel for all muscular reaction and must be present in the muscle cell at all times.

Creatine phosphate is a major storage form of high energy phosphates in the muscle. Creatine phosphate is required for muscular contractions. It is reported to delay the onset of muscular fatigue.

Richtafort is a predictable and reliable phosphorus supplement for horses.

• Begin treating horses with Richtafort when they start racing.
• Treat horses regularly with Richtafort (once a week).
• Treat with Richtafort after racing to replace phosphorus "used up" by muscular activity.
• Horses that are "picky and poor eaters" can be treated with Richtafort.
