Feeding Guide

Dogs, Cats & Ferrets:
Sprinkle 1g (approximately 1 level enclosed spoon) of Predamax per 4kg body weight over food once daily.

Growing Animals:
Feed approximately double the maintenance dose.

Triple C is a broad-spectrum antibiotic powder for use in ornamental birds for bacterial infections including E.coli (Enteritis), Mycoplasma (Chronic Respiratory Disease) and Chlamydia (Psittacosis).

Triple C may be added to the drinking water or the food of birds.

Triple C Antibiotic is an ideal "first line" antibiotic where a definite diagnosis is not available. If the birds fail to respond to the treatment within 3 days veterinary advice should be obtained.

Notes: Triple C Antibiotic Powder will be affected by the presence of calcium in the diet.

During treatment remove all sources of Calcium including supplements, shell grit and cuttlefish bone.

At the completion of the treatment the birds should have their gut flora re-established using Probotic.

Avian Insect Liquidator  will control avian mites, lice, biting insects, houseflies, mosquitoes, cockroaches and spiders in the bird’s environment. 

Avian Insect Liquidator is an extremely safe but effective insecticide and insect growth regulator for all avian species. When used directly on the bird, Avian Insect Liquidator penetrates into feathers to kill mites and lice. When sprayed around the environment it kills insects on contact and has residual action that guards against re-infestation for up to six weeks.

Symptoms of calcium deficiency include: Dystocia/Egg Binding, soft or thin shelled eggs, flight issues, lack of coordination during flight, legs spread further apart, leg weakness, seizures, drooping wings and biting/aggression.

Calcivet has been formulated to supplement the diet of birds where calcium and Vitamin D3 may be low. It will also support breeding birds and their young with essential calcium. Vitamin D3 maximises calcium absorption in the gut.

Calcium supports shell formation and the normal development of bones in young birds. Regular use of Calcivet in seed eating birds will ensure adequate calcium for strong bones, muscle formation and general wellbeing.

Directions:

Make freely available as your birds primary diet. Forest Fusion Lorikeet may be fed dry, direct out of the packet or as a wet mix by adding a small amount of water.

Wet Mix: A wet mix can be achieved by adding warm water to the powder and mixing thoroughly with a fork. You can mix to any consistency you desire but Vetafarm recommends a mix of 1 heaped teaspoon of Forest Fusion Lorikeet with 10 teaspoons of hot water. Mix well with a fork and change every 24hrs.

Forest Fusion Lorikeet is designed as a complete diet when fed at 80% of the total diet.

Converting Lorikeets: We use the natural deliciousness of dates, bee pollen and blueberry to achieve an outstanding taste! However, as most commercial lorikeet diets contain large quantities of refined sugar, changing some birds from one of these diets may take a number of days.

Mites and lice can be irritating to small animals and severely impact their health.

Vetafarm Origins Insect & Mite spray offers instant control of pests on contact with an additional 6 week residual protection against reinfestation. It penetrates the coat to kill mites and lice in the fur and on the skin.

Directions for Use: 

(a) To control rabbit and rodent mite (Trixacarus caviae) and Lice (Anoplura spp.) spray directly onto animal by holding spray 30-40cm (12-16 in) from animal. Depending on animal size, use from 1 spray (mouse) to 10 sprays (rabbit).

(b) Environment: Spray animal environment thoroughly. One application should give up to 6 weeks protection.

Nectar pellets have been formulated to provide complete nutritional balance for growth, breeding, brain function and optimum feather development when fed as 80% of your birds diet. Directions:
Loris and lorikeets eat between 10-15% of their bodyweight in dry food per day. A 120g bodyweight lorikeet requires a minimum of 10g of nectar pellets per day.

Coccivet is a safe and effective Coccidiosis treatment for use in pigeons and ornamental birds. With a dual active formulation Coccivet safely and efficiently clears infection over a 7-day course of treatment.
Coccidiosis can result in nutrient malabsorption, dehydration, and blood loss, and make the bird susceptible to secondary infections. 
Coccivet has much better activity against parasites than sulphur treatments and may be prepared as a flock dose for large numbers of birds or singular and small aviary dose.

When treating for coccidiosis it is important to thoroughly clean all aviaries and environments, using a disinfectant such as Vetafarm Avicare, at the same time to help prevent reinfection.
Coccivet should not be mixed with other products.

D’Nutrical is a powdered supplement designed to fortify any food source with calcium, vitamins and minerals. Containing triple calcium sources, D’Nutrical promotes high quality eggshell production, strong bone formation and general good health.

D'Nutrical, formulated by avian veterinarians, is a maintenance and breeding season supplement. It is particularly useful for calcium supplementation in breeding birds and growing chicks.

Symptoms of vitamin and/or mineral deficiencies include mouth plaques, abscesses, sneezing, tail-bobbing, wheezing, lethargy, nasal discharge, crusty nostrils, depression, diarrhea, feather discolouration, swollen eyes or ocular discharge, weight loss.

Directions:
For conversion from seed if gradual, mix 50:50 seed to crumbles. Allow all seed to be eaten before adding more mix. Birds should be consuming the crumbles within 3-4 days. Once crumbles are being eaten, eliminate seed.

Conversion may be sudden, simply remove all seed and replace with crumbles. Ensure familiar feed dishes and feeding locations are retained. Birds may appear fluffed for 2-3 days while their systems adjust but should return to normal within a week.

For soft feeding add hot water to a small amount of crumbles, stir and supply in place of normal soft foods. As birds take to this food, decrease the water added and begin reducing the amount of seed supplied. Birds will convert shortly.

Water must be available at all times as birds on Finch Crumbles consume more water than seed eating birds. (Allow for extra water consumption when using in-water medications).

Vetafarm Breeding Aid is an oil-based breeding supplement, fortified with stabilised vitamins for the addition to seed diets.

Healthy membranes in a fertilised egg are essential if the embryo is to develop into a healthy chick. For membrane development breeding birds need access to essential fatty acids.

Breeding Aid contains essential fatty acids for membrane development, egg laying, chick growth and immunity, and Vitamin A for cell development, Vitamin D3 for calcium absorption, bone growth and egg formation and Vitamin E, an antioxidant that helps maintain cell membranes.

Breeding Aid is a must for all breeding birds fed on a seed diet and is particularly useful for smaller birds that produce a large numbers of eggs or multiple clutches.
Additional vitamin, mineral and calcium supplements are still advised for birds on seed diets.
