About this item

The Kruse Rehab Carpal Protector is for use before & after surgery or in cases of chronic arthritis i.e. Osteoarthritis, OCD, ligament injuries, arthritis, ED and other assessments.

When dogs suffer injuries in the lower leg joints such as from the carpal joints, there are more often traumatic causes behind this occurrence. In connection with these complex joints being injured, ligaments are often affected in some way. The healing period is long and the dog needs a support around the joint so as to not worsen the injury during this period.

The carpus protector is stretched around the entire leg and fastened with a velcro band in accordance with the stability one wants to achieve with the protection.

Sold in singles - Can be used on either the Right or Left Leg/Carpal Joint Area.

Care: Wash by hand & air dry.

To best determine what size Carpal Protector your dog requires we highly recommend that you measure your dogs leg and compare with the size chart in the product images. (Please do not only rely on the breed examples as every dog is different)

Sizes       Breed Examples
XXXS      Chihuahua, Maltese, Pomeranian, Yorkshire Terrier, Papillon
XXS         Bichon Frisé, Shih Tzu, Tibetan Spaniel, Yorkshire Terrier
XS           Cocker Spaniel, Whippet, Cavalier, King Charles
S              Collie, Springer Spaniel, Kelpie
M             Labrador, Dalmatian, Retriever, Pointer
L              Rottweiler, German Shepherd, Boxer, Husky, Malamute

We recommend you view the detailed sizing chart below (or download the full guide HERE) to choose an appropriate size for your dog.

Please actually measure your dog for the appropriate size. The breed recommendations are only a rough guide. The actual measurements from your dog are more accurate. Measurements on the size chart are of the protector lying flat (so the half the circumference).

Carpel protector

Unfortunately was a complete waste of money. Not very happy.

Useless

It has no padding and does nothing for the dog

Wrist protector is great

The elbow protector and wrist protector is great on my 12 year old Cavvie, who has arthritis in his elbow and collapsed wrists. His gate is nearly normal, his limping is reduced, he has more mobility due to the support it gives which means he gets more walks which is helping his mental state too by being able to get out and socialise. If only it could do something about his cardiac disease too.

Daisy has just been confirmed as having an ankle sprain and vet recommended a carpel support.

She measures 13cm around the ankle joint, which size would you recommend? Thank you

vet-n-pet DIRECT

Hi Alexs

Thank you for your Question.

The Small may be a better fit than the medium as the medium may be too big.
The small measures 12.5cm where the Medium is 14.5cm.
The small is recommended for Collies, Kelpies, Springer Spaniel sized dogs.
If you order the Carpal Protector and it is too small you are welcome to return it for a refund.
It needs to come back in a new and unused condition free of any dog hair from when you try it on.
You can generate a return on our website and we will email you a reply paid label so it does not cost you to return.
I hope that helps

Cheers

I have a Rough Collie (not Border Collie) with Carpal Hyper Extension in one leg. Is medium the correct size for her? And should I buy one for each front leg or only the affected leg? Thank you.

vet-n-pet DIRECT

Hi Laura

Thank you for your Question.
Yes I think the Medium would be a better fit for a Rough Collie.
I would recommend that you still measure your dog and follow the sizing guide.
If it is too big you are welcome to return it for a refund.
You can generate a return on our website and we will email you a reply paid label.
It needs to come back in a new resaleable condition, free of any dog hair.
You should only need the one for the affected leg unless you would like to give the other leg more support.

I hope that helps.
Cheers

Graeme R.

Hi there.
We have a female 3 year old Great Dane (small for breed) ~55kg
Her front right leg “splays” to the outside from the “wrist”.
This has grown progressively worse over the last year or so. This a genetic flaw.
The Krusse Rehab Carpus Protector looks like it may provide support for her while walking or playing with her brother? Can you advise?
Would the large size be suitable and would this be appropriate?
Thank you
Graeme Richardson

Hi Graeme,
Sorry to hear about your girls issues. The Kruuse Rehab Carpus Protector would probably provide some support to the joint if the problem is from laxity in the ligaments/muscles.
Looking at our sizing guide large might be the right fit. If you do order a Large and it is not the correct size we do accept Free Returns if the item is unused (we understand you would need to try it on momentarily) but is clean, undamaged and in a resalable condition with all tags and packaging.

I hope this helps
