I was looking at the Sure sense microchip reader and wondering if it would work with horses or just small pets?

Thank you for your question Candice.
These microchip scanners are designed to read microchips on Companion Pets.
Microchips on these animals are injected under the skin and are quite shallow.
They can work on horses but it is quite variable.
An Equine Vet did test these Scanners on horses and found it to be dependent on the depth of the chip implantation and the thickness of the horses coat.
The microchip is injected into the muscle on a horse and can be quite deep.
You may need a stronger Microchip reader for horses.
