We used to breed Korats. Our original queen is now over 19 yrs old and has less than 25% kidney function. After trying the competition we found that this variety is the only one that our Korats will eat. Apart from keeping these fussy cats happy, it is keeping our old girl alive and relatively healthy. Normal cat food would be poison for her and the others enjoy it too. Recommended by vets.
Royal Canin Renal with Fish thin slices in gravy is a complete dietetic feed for cats formulated to support renal function in the case of chronic renal insufficiency.
Renal with fish is also formulated to reduce oxalate stone formation through its low level of calcium and Vitamin D, and its urine alkalising properties.
Recommendations:
It is recommended that a veterinarian’s opinion be sought before use or before extending the period of use.
Initially feed Renal with Fish for up to 6 months in cases of chronic renal insufficiency and reduction of oxalate stone formation.
Recommended for cases of:
Not recommended in case of:
This diet is complete and balanced and can be fed long-term.
Benefits:
Renal diets are recommended as soon as creatinine goes out of reference range (from CKD late stage 2), before the disease further progresses, and before inappetence develops. In case of food aversion, the cat can be switched to another renal option without transition. After commencing a Renal diet, in addition to periodic measurement of renal biomarkers, blood mineral level monitoring is also recommended. In cases of diet induced hypercalcaemia, the cat should be switched to Early Renal diet. Other mineral disturbances (eg. hypokalaemia) may require additional treatment. In most cases, Renal diets may be continued for the cat’s lifetime.
PACK SIZE: 12 X 85g pouch
