About this item

The SureFlap Cat Flap recognises the ID chip already implanted in your cat, allowing access to your pet and making unwanted visitors a thing of the past. Your home becomes a secure environment for your pet, leading to a happier, more relaxed animal. No need for a collar or tag which can get lost or even worse caught on branches, etc.

Features of the Sureflap Microchip Cat Flap:

  • Selective entry – any animal can exit. The microchip reader is located on the outside of the cat flap only
  • Stores up to 32 pet identities in memory. Remembers all registered cats even when the batteries are removed
  • Low battery indicator light flashes red when the batteries start running low giving you plenty of time to change them
  • Up to 12 months battery life (4 x AA batteries – not included). A low battery indicator will flash when the batteries need changing
  • Manual lock stops your cat leaving or entering the house. Set to in-only to enable your cat to come indoors without being able to get out again
  • Works with all common identification microchips & RFID collar tags (not included).
  • 3-year warranty

What if my cat isn't microchipped?

The Sureflap Microchip Cat  Flap also works with lightweight RFID collar tags which work in the same way as a microchip.

Maybe okay for smaller cats

We already have a larger unit and the cat is able to activate the RF detector without problem, however this one is a lot smaller and it appears that it doesn’t quite detect his chip until he’s further in the chute, ie when we open it ourselves.
Looking to offload this one to someone with a smaller cat (Jasper is a large/long cat).

Great customer service

The cat flap build quality is ok. Be warned however the flap does not latch for cats leaving the premises so you cannot selectively choose which cat stays in and out if you have two. Vet n pet direct were fantastic though and allowed a refund with no postage to pay. Very impressed.

I agree with the comments of it being too small. My cats are very reluctant to use it, one is wide and the other is tall so both struggle.

Excellent product that works very well. Highly recommended for purchase if you are having problems with unwanted neighbourhood cats.

Sureflap Microchip Cat Flap

I have 10yr old burmese cat who I thought would be reluctant to use this but a few goes and she was alright with it. Not feeding any neighbourhood cats now. We previously had a staywell 400 catflap.- this is much smaller than the staywell and you will need the mounting glass adapter as the circle for a standard cat flap is larger than this cat flap. It would be handy to know this before buying!

Happy to report that my cat did learn to use it by himself in a short time. I initially opened the door for him and helped him out and then learned to go in and out on his own. It definitely is small, he is an average-to-slim sized cat and he just fits through. A good product, no more competition for food with the next-door cat.

Sureflap Microchip Cat Flap

My cat was used to a good-sized hole in the previous door and this gadget is smaller and has a plastic flap to push to gain access. He is reluctant to use it but I'm hoping he'll come around in time. Meanwhile the chubby cat from next door manages to push through it! (it's still in learn mode)...but his door is similar and he is determined to get extra food. I think, as with many things, where there's a will, there's a way (I'm hoping this applies to my cat as well).

Sureflap Microchip Cat Flap

In the bad old days, when I had a basic door, I was having a lot of problems. The word had spread in the local feline community that there was always cat food available at my house. Not all the uninvited visitors had the best manners, and sometimes the smell of tom cats would be overpowering. My cats were fed up and so was I - I had to spend a lot of money on sprays to try and neutralise the odours. Now, it's bliss. No more uninvited midnight feasters and, even better, no more smells. Heaven.

I love the cat door now I don't have to worry about Rambo, we had to stay up so we could close the window :) Now I can go to bed and know that at 1am he crawls into bed. :) What I did find that the door was a little too small and it could do with being at least 2inches bigger. At first Rambo would go out off it, but would only come in via the window or the door. He now only does that if we are in the kitchen at the time :) With the tunnel it takes him time to crawl through, so it is just as well we put it in a place where the next door neighbours dog can not block it to stoping Rambo from getting to safety. I will be buying a second one so he can have a door at the back of the house too. but will have too wait until I can get more money together :)

Took our cat about 3 weeks to get used to it, but now uses the door regularly and with no hesitation....in fact thinks he is "it & a bit" with his private entrance.. Yes, it could be a bit bigger, but generally if a cat can get its head through the rest will follow. Overall, we highly reccommend this product which we have installed in glass using the glass adaptor accessory offered.

Sureflap Microchip Cat Flap

Have only spent a short time getting the cats used to the door. It is going to be a great decision to buy this, because we were previously dealing with a neighbourhood cat who constatly came in our window. This is certainly a great invention.

I agree with all comments. Our two cats really struggled to get through initially. A larger size would be great. Have recommended this to friends

The microchip sensor works really well. It clicks loudly every time one of my cats poke their head into the tunnel. So it definitely does a good job at keeping out the neighbourhood cats. However, as noted by the previous reviewer, it is really is too small for adult cats. Mine are both quite tall and struggling a bit with the tiny slot (the tunnel is longer than pictures show) to get their head and forelegs through. I found it easy to install in a wood door using my drill and jigsaw. Recommended for small cats.

Product is really very good and works as advertised ... except that it is really too small for large cats. The picture often shown with the flap uses a kitten as the model, rather than a full-grown cat. Our cat is five (and a bit overweight), and she finds it a struggle. She does manage, however, especially if there is no-one around to complain to. Pity it can't be made just 3cm bigger all around. However, unless your cat is really super-sized, I guess it will work just fine.

Sureflap Microchip Cat Flap

Sure flap works as described. It's great. Only downside is the internal dimensions of the cat door are a little small for our cat who is struggling to sqeeze through. A larger version of this door would be perfect.
