The availability and necessity of vitamin E in equine diets is well established. When healthy horses are given frequent access to fresh green forage such as good quality pasture, there is little need for supplementation of vitamin E. However, many horses today are managed without fresh forage in their diets. These horses can survive in such management systems, but they will likely not be consuming sufficient vitamin E for optimal health.
Vitamin E is first and foremost an antioxidant, an agent that keeps free radicals from forming and potentially weakening cells and tissues. In addition to its antioxidant responsibilities, vitamin E is vital to immune, cardiovascular, circulatory, neuromuscular, and reproductive functions. Therefore, supplementation with an effective vitamin E supplement is recommended for all horses that do not consume a significant quantity of green pasture.
Natural Vitamin E is preferred.
Research has revealed that vitamin E varies in its potency, based on whether it is natural or synthetic. The chemical structures of synthetic and natural vitamin E differ. Natural vitamin E is recognized as "d-alpha-tocopherol," and is made up of a single isomer. Synthetic vitamin E, termed "dl-alpha tocopherol," contains a mixture of eight different isomers, four tocopherols and four tocotrienols. Of these eight, only one is molecularly equivalent to natural vitamin E. Sources of natural vitamin E, especially Nano E, more effectively raise serum levels when compared to synthetic.
To make alpha-tocopherol stable for use in most supplements, it must be chemically joined with an acid during manufacture, a process called esterification. The acid, in this case acetate, acts as a padlock or protective cap that shields alpha-tocopherol from the damages caused by exposure to oxidative forces. Without esterification, alpha-tocopherol can quickly denature, losing its antioxidant properties and rendering it ineffective.
Once ingested, esterified alpha-tocopherol is subjected to normal digestive enzymes. A certain group of enzymes called esterases are chemically capable of unlocking the padlock created through esterification. Once free, alpha-tocopherol is available for absorption with its antioxidant properties intact.
Delivering Vitamin E Eficiently.
Fat-soluble vitamins like vitamin E must be offered to horses in a way that maximizes absorption. Because it is not mixed with other ingredients, the vitamin E in Nano E does not need to be protected by esterification, but it must become water-soluble or dispersible in liquid. This presents a challenge: As everyone knows, oil and water don't mix.
Each water-soluble vitamin E nanoparticle in Nano E is encapsulated or surrounded by liposomes, which allows the nanoparticle to mix evenly throughout a water-based environment such as the gastrointestinal tract. Researchers developed a method by which fat-soluble vitamins can be absorbed with great efficiency. Because of its oily nature, vitamin E is hydrophobic (water-shunning). To overcome this, researchers use proprietary technology to encapsulate the vitamin E in nanoparticles and then surround each nanoparticle with a hydrophilic (water-loving) outer layer. The hydrophilic outer layer, allows the nanoparticles to be rapidly and evenly released in water-based environments such as the gastrointestinal tract.
The greatest benefit of this unique delivery system is an increase in the bioavailability of vitamin E. The more vitamin E that is absorbed into the bloodstream, the more available it is for use as a body-wide antioxidant essential for tissue repair and for its imperative roles in various body systems.
Controlled studies at Kentucky Equine Research indicate that Nano E is superior to synthetic and other natural vitamin E sources.
USES:
Confinement.
Horses that do not have access to pasture may not be consuming optimal levels of vitamin E. Nano E provides this essential vitamin in a form that is easily absorbed, and is appropriate for horses of all ages that are stabled due to training schedules, travel, or injury.
Performance.
Horses asked to work strenuously benefit from Nano E. A regular schedule of training and competition makes performance horses susceptible to muscle damage, which is due largely to oxidative stress. Nano E provides fast acting antioxidant protection for hard-working horses.
Breeding.
Appropriate for broodmares and stallions, Nano E provides optimal antioxidant protection. Broodmares benefit from increased fertility and increased transfer of passive immunity to their foals. Vitamin E supplementation has been linked to increased libido and semen quality in stallions.
Neurological problems.
Veterinarians and researchers have found that vitamin E supplementation often helps in recovery from certain neurological problems. Nano E provides natural-source vitamin E in a form that is quickly absorbed.
Stressful events.
Prior to relocation, long-distance travel, weaning, or other stress inducing events, Nano E provides a boost to antioxidant and immune defenses.
Convalescence.
Following injuries such as lacerations, puncture wounds, or burns, the addition of Nano E to the diet will increase antioxidant activity and enhance recovery.
SIZE: 450mL with pump.
Hygain SAFEGUARD EQ is a broad spectrum mycotoxin binder.
- All natural
- Fast acting & effective absorption of mycotoxins
Certain fungi found on fresh pasture grasses, conserved roughage (hay, chaff, straw) and in grains can produce secondary compounds called mycotoxins. Several types of mycotoxins exist which may interact, especially under favourable environmental conditions such as in warm and humid climates. Mycotoxins may contaminate feeds or grains and are hard to detect due to their odourless, tasteless and invisible presence.
The horseās digestive system is sensitive to the effects of mycotoxins, as the gastric juices in the stomach cannot effectively deactivate the mycotoxins and these therefore enter the sensitive small intestine and hindgut. Once mycotoxins reach the hindgut they may affect the intestinal wall or enter the horseās blood stream, which can result in respiratory, gastrointestinal, neurological and reproductive issues.
Safeguard EQ may be of benefit to horses exhibiting one or more of the following symptoms: Stringhalt, aggressive or unruly behaviour, hypersensitivity / āgirthinessā, poor coat quality, diarrhoea, poor conditioning and rye grass staggers.
VAM Paste for Horses & Dogs
VAM Paste is a comprehensive vitamin, amino acid and mineral supplement formulated to support the nutritional needs of horses and dogs. It provides a concentrated source of essential B-group vitamins, amino acids and trace minerals that may be beneficial during periods of training, competition, stress, recovery, illness or increased nutritional demand.
Suitable for both performance and companion animals, VAM Paste helps support normal energy metabolism, healthy red blood cell production and overall wellbeing.
Key Benefits
- Provides a concentrated source of B-group vitamins, amino acids and trace minerals.
- Supports normal energy metabolism and nutrient utilisation.
- Assists in maintaining healthy red blood cell production.
- Helps support animals during training, competition and periods of increased stress.
- Provides nutritional support during recovery from illness or periods of reduced feed intake.
- Suitable for horses and dogs.
How VAM Works
B-Group Vitamins play a vital role in energy production, metabolism and normal cellular function. Because many B vitamins are water soluble and not stored extensively within the body, regular supplementation may be beneficial for animals with increased nutritional requirements.
Amino Acids including Lysine, Methionine and Glycine are essential components of protein synthesis and support the maintenance of muscle tissue, normal growth and overall body condition.
Trace Minerals such as Iron, Copper and Cobalt contribute to the formation of healthy red blood cells and haemoglobin, helping support oxygen transport throughout the body.
VAM Paste is formulated to provide readily available nutritional support for horses and dogs when dietary intake alone may not meet increased physiological demands.

DL-Acetyl Methionine Injection acts to detoxify the liver.
LIVER PROTECTANT:
An early study in horses confirmed methionine administered prior to or within 2 or 4 hours after exposure to a liver toxic agent (chloroform) protected the liver from injury.
Methionine by injection should prove useful to protect the liver against certain types of
injuries and aids organ repair.
Several other reports indicate methionine, an essential amino acid, assists in the breakdown of fats in the liver (fatty liver disease ā cattle). Also it detoxifies the liver and the body of heavy metals.Ā
DL Methionine protects tissue from free-radical damage. As a lipotropic agent, it plays a fundamental role in healthy liver function. It has antioxidantĀ activity, protects the liver and lympathatic system and other tissues throughout the bodyĀ against free-radical damage.Ā
A recent report indicates methionine exerts an antioxidant effect although the mechanism is yet unidentified.Ā
The findings of this study demonstrate that methionine reduces free-radical formation in
endothelial cells. This novel, indirect antioxidant action might be relevant for prevention of inflammationĀ and oxidative stress.
Methionine is not synthesised by the body and must be supplemented.
DL METHIONINE INJECTION 50mL:

Kohnke's Own Donkey Supreme is a scientifically blended supplement which provides all major minerals, trace-minerals and vitamins to correct low or inadequate levels in the diets of breeding, growing, working and aged donkeys.
Many donkeys are used to keep the grass mown in small areas and house paddocks and often graze weeds and rough plants which horses and other animals leave. They are gentle, lovable companion animals which don't need high energy prepared feeds or grain based diets. Often their rations are low or inadequate in bone minerals, trace-minerals and vitamins necessary to meet their needs for growth, pregnancy and general good health and longevity. Aged donkeys often suffer bone and arthritic problems.
Donkey Supreme has been formulated to make-up the short falls in the diets of donkeys when grazing on grass pastures, browsing on plants and being fed poor quality diets based on hay and straw to avoid laminitis and to maintain them. Donkey Supreme is the world's first supplement for donkeys of all ages and activity.
Features:
- Based on a blend of 3 cold-pressed Supplet pellets to NRC (2007) guidelines for donkeys.
- The innovative Supplet blend eliminates sift-out, dust, sludging and nutrient interaction in feeds - in fact, many donkeys at grass can be offered the supplement off the hand or mixed in a small amount of chaff or finely chopped carrots or apples as a treat.
- Provides bone minerals for growing and aged donkeys of all sizes.
- Simply calculate the dose rate relative to your donkey's body weight.
- Regular supplementation with Donkey Supreme will help to maintain health and vitality, optimum coat condition and assist the immune response.
Donkey Supreme - it's not just a horse supplement, it is a supreme supplement especially formulated for donkeys to meet their specific nutrient needs and dietary balance.

Equine athletes are prone to injury. Certain injuries happen quickly but others are a result of cumulative wear and tear. Hyaluronic acid (HA) plays a vital role in maintaining the health of connective tissue and optimizing normal joint function. Synovate HAĀ® may assist with supporting equine athletes through the rigors of training and competition. Owners and trainers of high-performance horses rely on intra-articular, intravenous, or oral HA to help protect their horses' joints.
Manage Joints Proactively:
Synovate HAĀ® provides horses with a safe, easily absorbed, and easy-to-use form of sodium hyaluronate. The core ingredient, HA, is a naturally occurring substance found in various connective tissues in the horse's body. HA contributes significantly to maintenance of cartilage health and elasticity, joint fluid viscoelasticity, and lubrication of the entire joint mechanism. In addition, HA has anti-inflammatory properties, especially useful for high-motion joints such as those in equine limbs.
The horse maintains considerable reservoirs of HA within its body, yet as horses mature and more athletic demands are placed on them inflammation leads to breakdown of HA in the joint fluid. The loss of HA leads to lower viscoelasticity in the joint fluid and further inflammation, which can damage cartilage and make the joint disease worse. Therefore, it is desirable to manage joint care proactively with Synovate HAĀ®.
Superior Biological Activity:
Researchers have identified differences in biological activities for HA of different molecular weights. HA with a high molecular weight (more than 500,000 daltons) has the greatest biological response. Further, high molecular weight HA created from microbial fermentation, such as Synovate HAĀ®, has the greatest likelihood for matching the known attributes of native HA found in the horse's body.
To support your horse's joints, choose Synovate HAĀ®.

Farrier's Formula Double Strength is a pelleted hoof supplement that can be added as a top dressing on the regular feed or given separately. It provides nutrients such as phospholipids, omega fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, and important amino acid āprotein building blocksā for a healthy hoof and hair coat.
These nutrients are provided at twice the concentration compared to original Farrier's Formula.
Over 30 years of research, clinical trials and field testing validate the effectiveness of Farrier's Formula.
Problems it Addresses:
Weak hoof structure leads to hoof wall problems such as quarter cracks, toe cracks, sand cracks, brittle hoof walls and hoof wall separation. These hoof wall defects often create an environment ideal for the microbial invasions associated with white line disease and crumbling horn.
Also addressed are horses with thin soft soles that are susceptible to sudden lameness from bruising, and horses recovering from laminitis or founder whose cohesive bond between the outer hoof wall and the coffin bone has been damaged.
The Solution:
Farrierās Formula supplies the nutrients required for building strong hoof capsule connective tissue in the correct balance and ratio. It also promotes strong and fast growth of the hoof wall, sole, frog, and heel.
Farrierās Formula provides proper nutrition to āgrow outā wall cracks, strengthen and thicken the hoof wall and sole, reduce the likelihood of microbial invasions and bruising, and assist with laminitis recovery.
Farrierās Formula also promotes a glossy more deeply colored coat and strengthened connective tissues of the joints and ligaments.
- Twice the number of daily doses compared to original Farrier's Formula
- A 60 day supply for a 1000 lb horse at the Adult Replenishment Feeding Level or a 120 day supply when feeding at the Adult Maintenance Feeding Level
- More economical to feed compared to original Farrier's FormulaĀ®Ā
Farrier's Formula Double Strength is doping free and can be fed to competition horses.

Ingredient Information:
BIOTIN (VITAMIN B7) is a B-complex vitamin that plays a vital role in maintaining the overall health and strength of a horse's hooves. Hoof health is crucial for a horse's mobility, performance, and overall well-being. Biotin is known to enhance hoof growth and improve the quality of the hoof horn.
CALCIUM can be beneficial, especially for horses with hoof issues such as weak horn structure or slow hoof growth. It helps ensure that the horse receives an adequate supply of this essential mineral, which is necessary for optimal hoof development and maintenance.
CHELATED ZINC has improved bioavailability, meaning it is more easily absorbed and utilised by the horse's body compared to other forms of zinc. This increased absorption can lead to better utilisation of zinc by the hoof tissues. Contributing to the production of keratin, the protein responsible for hoof growth and strength, zinc plays a crucial role in enzymatic reactions that are necessary for keratin synthesis, making it an essential nutrient for maintaining healthy hooves.
METHIONINE is an essential amino acid that plays a crucial role in maintaining the health and strength of a horse's hooves. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins, and methionine is specifically involved in the synthesis of keratin, which forms the structural basis of the hoof horn.
MSM is a naturally occurring sulphur compound providing several benefits for horse hooves. It supports the production of keratin, the protein responsible for the growth and strength of hooves. By providing an adequate supply of sulphur, MSM aids in the formation of strong, resilient hooves that are less prone to cracking, splitting, and other hoof-related problems.
PHOSPHORUS works in conjunction with calcium to form and maintain strong bones and hooves. It helps in the formation and mineralisation of the hoof horn, contributing to its strength and durability. Adequate levels of phosphorus are essential for proper hoof growth, as well as for repairing and maintaining hoof tissues.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
A daily intake of Cal-plus with Biotin will help ensure the development and maintenance of a strong and sound musculo-skeletal system, including the hoof. Horses on high grain/bran diets, or those grazing tropical pastures, should receive the recommended dose of Cal-plus with Biotin each day to help ensure an optimum calcium:phosphorus ration to maintain strong healthy bones, ligaments and tendons.
DOSAGE Note: It is preferable not to mix any calcium into wet bran mixtures. One level scoop contains 30g of Cal-plus with Biotin. The recemmended dose rates have been calculated to satisfy the calcium requirements based on common diets and activity. However, a veterinarian may prescribe amounts in excess of those recommended to horses with skeletal or hoof abnormalities. Horses with poor hooves should receive adequate levels of protein in their diets to provide essential amino acids, which in conjunction with a daily intake of Cal-plus with Biotin will assist in improving hoof structure.
CAL-PLUS with BIOTIN is a vanilla flavoured powder and is available in 1.2kg, 5kg and 12.5kg buckets.
