KelatoLYTE is the ultimate electrolyte replacer. It has been scientifically formulated to mimic the composition of horse sweat, so whatever is lost in sweat through work or travel is immediately replaced. KelatoLYTE provides the optimal balance of sodium, chloride, potassium and magnesium with minimal glucose āfillerā that can compromise the electrolyte composition of other electrolyte replacers. KelatoLYTE is ideal for trainers, as it does not contain alkalising agents that can contravene the rules of racing.
KelatoLYTEā¢s balanced formulation more closely mimics the actual composition of a horses sweat making it extremely effective at helping to prevent poor performance due to sweat loss.Individual horses sweat differently under differing work loads and climates. KelatoLYTEā¢s formulation and feeding directions are directly related to the amount of sweat lost, taking into account both the amount of work done and the climate. This means that you can ensure you are correctly replacing your horses sweat loss no matter what the climate. The addition of glucose in the KelatoLYTE formulation improves the uptake of the essential electrolytes into the gut (stomach) to quickly help prevent dehydration.
To also help maximise electrolyte uptake, it is advisable to split the daily KelatoLYTE dosage into more than one feed (eg. half the daily dose in the morning and half in the evening). The apple flavouring in KelatoLYTE makes it very palatable.
KelatoLYTE can also be used as a drench.
KelatoLYTE contains no bicarbonates and does not contravene the rules of racing.

Sodium 216.0 gms/kg
Glucose 92.0 gms/kg
Potassium 167.0 gms/kg

Current supplementation practices have, for many years, been based on NRC (1989) recommended levels of nutrients for growing horses.
Recent scientific research has confirmed that growing horses receiving these NRC recommended levels, or lower, are more likely to develop DOD. The RIRDC (Rural Industries Research & Development Corporation) has recently revised the recommended levels for the essential minerals calcium, phosphorus, copper and zinc in brood mares and growing horses.
In line with the recently recommended mineral level increases, Ranvet has acted to fortify Folactin Red, its mineral formulation for studs, to reflect the new dietary requirements in Folactin Red Plus.
There is a scientific correlation between the occurrence of DOD in horses, and the amount of copper, zinc, calcium and phosphorus fed. The incidence of DOD decreases significantly when these minerals are supplemented at adequate levels.
Whatās Improved in Folactin Red Plus?
DOD is well accepted as having multifactorial causes, and supplementation of one mineral alone will do little to reduce DOD lesions. Folactin Red Plus provides boosted levels of the essential bone-building minerals, copper, zinc, calcium and phosphorus, and now has added magnesium
Copper is critically involved in stabilising bone collagen, and formation of elastin. It has long been recognised that copper is essential to help reduce DOD lesions, and copper has been shown to reduce the prevalence of cartilage lesions in foals when present in adequate amounts. Most Australian pastures are copper deficient.
Zinc deficiency in the diet can also be a contributing cause to DOD, and recent scientific studies confirm that increased dietary zinc allowed increased recovery from DOD in foals.
Calcium and phosphorus, the two primary minerals involved in development of sound, healthy bones, must be present in a very precise ratio to allow normal bone development. The levels of calcium and phosphorus in Folactin Red Plus are now higher than NRC recommendations, because scientific research shows that the amounts necessary to maximise bone strength and total mineral content, as well as to reduce the incidence of DODās, is higher than the levels required to maximise growth rate.
Magnesium is needed for more than 300 biochemical reactions in the body. It helps maintain normal muscle and nerve function, keeps heart rhythm steady, supports a healthy immune system, and keeps bones strong. Magnesium also helps regulate blood sugar levels, promotes normal blood pressure, and is known to be involved in energy metabolism and protein synthesis
Is Folactin Red Plus Safe?
The improved levels of copper and zinc are still well below the upper safe concentrations (copper, 800ppm, and zinc 500ppm), as determined by the NRC, 1989. There is no risk in feeding these improved levels of copper and zinc, but there could be significant advantages in doing so.
The improved ratio of calcium and phosphorus simply reflects the current research on DOD prevention, and levels of both minerals are significantly below any likely toxicity levels, while being balanced for optimum availability and absorption. Calcium : phosphorus imbalances are most likely to occur when high grain rations are fed, or when horses graze tropical grasses for extended periods.
Is Folactin Red Plus Designed for Brood Mares As Well As Foals?
In the last 3 months of pregnancy the foetus doubles in size, and calcification of the skeleton occurs. If adequate calcium is not available at this time, foals are often premature, with inadequate calcium stores, and predisposed to rickets. During late pregnancy the mare draws heavily on calcium reserves stored in her bones. If she has insufficient access to dietary calcium during this period, the mareās own body reserves of calcium may be severely depleted.
Lactating mares require even more minerals than pregnant mares - up to three times greater than normal requirements. In fact, the lactating mare loses over four times the amount of calcium than does a pregnant mare. Folactin Red Plus provides the safety margin to allow for dietary insufficiencies.
Folactin Red Plus improves the mineral quality of mareās milk.
It is important to understand that the foal relies on body stores of the trace minerals, including copper and zinc, as little is absorbed from colostrum, therefore it is essential to ensure that mares in late pregnancy are fed a diet balanced in minerals for incorporation into foetal bone structure.
Young, Growing Horses Require Balanced Essential Minerals
Young growing horses require a balanced intake of minerals, including calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, copper, iron, zinc, iodine and manganese for healthy, sound bone growth. At any time pastures are likely to be deficient in one or more of the essential bone building minerals. While many other factors such as dietary protein are also involved in DOD, providing adequate balanced minerals is the key to reducing the risk of DOD.
Can Folactin Red Plus Be Fed To Adult Horses?
Yes. Folactin Red Plus will be of value in adult horses where deficiencies or imbalances of calcium. phosphorus, copper, and zinc may exist in the pasture or diet. Folactin Red Plus is of significant value in brood mares in the last third of pregnancy and lactation, as well as in working horses and stallions.

Equitec Osmo-Plex is an Electrolyte Replacement. It increases water intake and
is a hydration maintenance formula.
Osmo-Plex has been formulated to help maintain osmotic balance in horses.
Osmotic balance assists to establish and maintain adequate retention of fluids in the intestines, cells and muscle tissue and in turn helps to avoid dehydration.
When specific osmotic nutraceuticals and minerals with high bioavailability are added to the diet the need for electrolytes is considerably reduced. This dietary approach is a natural means of maintaining hydration.
Note:
When a horse is badly dehydrated full rehydration can take from 72 hours to 96 hours. The duration of treatment for rehydration of the horse is relevant to the extent of dehydration in each case.
Research Details:
A group study conducted over 14 days with 20 horses showed an increase of between 25% and 30% daily water intake. These horses were previously drinking about 35 litres a day.
Another observation over 14 days with 2 horses that had previously been drinking 60 litres or more a day showed that their water intake reduced by approximately 20%.
Osmotic imbalance may be a precursor to dehydration and possibly tying up. We have observed horses that previously required saline drenching between races due to dehydration. Since they have been supplemented with OSMOPLEX they have not needed to be
drenched. Blood analyses have shown their electrolyte balance to be normal.
Many trainers rely on the pinch test to determine dehydration. This is not a method that can be regarded as being entirely accurate. Previous scientific studies as well as our own research have revealed that the slow return of skin fold is only evident when a horse is about 6% dehydrated.
Numerous case studies have shown that 2% dehydration is enough to reduce a horse's race performance.
The following are approximate guidelines for pinch testing of the skin:
1. Skin folds which remain creased after being pinched are usually in excess of 6% dehydration and require urgent treatment.
2. Skin folds which return back to normal slowly are an indication of approximately 4% to 5% dehydration.
3. Skin folds which return to normal instantly may be an indication of 1 to 3% dehydration.
The use of the pinch test or more accurately the pinch guess is a clear indication that there is a grey area of approximately 3 % when using this method to assess dehydration.
When we equate this to race performance 2% dehydration represents the loss of approximately 2 to 3 lengths over a distance of 1600 metres. The only accurate means of assessing hydration in a horse is through blood analysis and interpretation performed by a
reputable scientific laboratory.

Equitec Clean Culture is a 10 day program that may benefit the health of the digestive system. It has been designed to promote the growth of good bacteria and eradicate bad bacteria by promoting the regeneration of gut flora, which in turn may increase the uptake and absorption of nutrients.
Many horses will suffer a digestive disorder at some time in their life. These may be caused by long periods between feeds, diets with a high grain intake, extended administration of antibiotics, sudden change of feed, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, ulcers or horses who are naturally highly strung. Clean Culture aims to act as a detox for the digestive system so that it may start to repair and heal itself from these disorders.
Clean Culture may be fed over the tongue or added to hard feeds. The addition of licorice powder increases the palatability of the formula, which comes in the form of a paste.
BioMOS (mannan oligosaccharide) has been added to help boost gastrointestinal health and promote the growth of healthy bacteria. The inclusion of sea minerals may boost the antioxidant content of the formula and provide essential fatty acids.
Digestive health facts:
- More than half of all horses will experience ulcers at some stage in their life.
- Horses who have ulcers will often present symptoms such as going off their feed and can appear nervous or 'hot'.

BonafideĀ contains Quinaquanone, a patented, water soluble and bioavailable form of Vitamin K1 and K2.
Vitamin K1 & K2 have a critical effect on the function of osteocalcin, the bone protein that binds the mineral and protein in the bone together. Without sufficient Vitamin K the binding process is incomplete and low density or defective bone and cartilage are produced.
Vitamin K1 & K2 are naturally available in fresh, growing, green pasture but they are highly unstable, being degraded by UV light, wilting or 'wintering off'.⨠Horses that do not have constant access to high quality pasture are likely to be deficient in Vitamin K, leading to a reduction in bone density and strength.
Horses removed from Vitamin K rich pasture and brought into a box/yard regime have demonstrated a reduction in bone density within 7-10 days.

MuscleGUARD is an oral paste formulated with amino acids, vitamins and potent antioxidants that support normal muscle and nerve function during and after intense exercise. Supplementing before and after work can help provide relief from acute muscle soreness and fatigue associated with strenuous activity.
How Does It Work?
Amino Acids
L-Carnitine
- During low-intensity exercise, oxygen is used to fuel energy production and glycogen use is minimal. Carnitine helps preserve glycogen stores for longer.
- During high-intensity exercise, oxygen supply is limited, so other energy sources fuel muscle activity.
- High levels of carnitine in the muscle before exercise support higher work output with less energy expenditure.
- Oral carnitine supplementation helps load muscles with glycogen.
- Carnitine ensures fatty acids and other fuel sources are used before glycogen, delaying glycogen depletion and lactic acid build-up.
L-Carnosine
- Found in high concentrations in equine skeletal muscle fast-twitch fibres.
- Helps buffer lactic acid produced during glycolysis (glucose breakdown).
Dimethylglycine (DMG)
- Supports increased oxygen uptake in the bloodstream.
- Improved oxygen availability promotes stamina, conserves energy and delays the switch from aerobic to anaerobic exercise.
- Extending aerobic work reduces lactic acid production.
Antioxidants
Alpha-lipoic acid
- A powerful antioxidant that assists in converting glucose to usable energy.
- Helps regenerate and reactivate antioxidants such as Vitamins E and C.
Grape seed extract
- Rich in OPCs (oligomeric proanthocyanidin complexes), known for strong antioxidant effects.
Alpha-lipoic acid and grape seed extract together help to:
- Neutralise harmful free radicals produced during exercise.
- Delay the onset of fatigue.
- Reduce recovery time after periods of hard work.
When to Use MuscleGUARD
- For horses showing acute signs of muscle soreness or tightening after work.
- Suitable for all performance horsesāboth anaerobic (sprint) and aerobic (stamina) work requires efficient energy use.
- Use before and after events to help relieve muscle soreness and fatigue from strenuous exercise.
Features & Benefits
- Improves stamina and endurance by delaying fatigue.
- Helps delay discomfort associated with lactic acid.
- Reduces recovery time after intense training or events.
- Supports improved mental alertness during work.
- Assists in fast recovery from tying up.
- Ideal for travelāhorses unload feeling ready to perform.
Other Products That May Help
MuscleGUARD works best when used alongside Kelato's LoosenUP.
- MuscleGUARD provides relief on the day of the event to support recovery and performance.
- For mild or short-term symptoms, MuscleGUARD alone is usually sufficient.

EquiPower Maintenance is a premium oil blend designed to provide horses with a balanced source of cool, non-grain energy. Combining organic virgin coconut oil, cold-pressed rice bran oil and cold-pressed flaxseed oil, EquiPower Maintenance delivers a carefully balanced profile of Omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids to support condition, coat health and everyday performance.
Unlike traditional grain-based energy sources, EquiPower Maintenance provides calories from highly digestible oils rather than starch and sugar. This makes it an excellent option for horses requiring additional condition, stamina or energy while maintaining a lower non-structural carbohydrate (NSC) intake.
Key Benefits
- Provides a source of cool, non-glucose energy.
- Balanced Omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids.
- Supports stamina and endurance.

Why Feed Oils?
Dietary oils provide a concentrated source of calories that can be utilised efficiently by the horse. Research has shown that oils can supply significantly more digestible energy than cereal grains while avoiding the high starch levels associated with many traditional conditioning feeds.
EquiPower Maintenance combines saturated and unsaturated fats to provide both readily available energy and essential fatty acids. The inclusion of coconut oil supplies naturally occurring medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), while flaxseed and rice bran oils contribute valuable Omega fatty acids for overall health and condition.

- Cold-Pressed Flaxseed Oil
Suitable For
- Horses in light to moderate work.
